Our main focus is on creating a healthy and thriving community for people who are TTC, pregnant, and have a baby. :-)

Was happy to see you mention that the boards posts have a similar look to the blog posts! That's something we did purposefully, so that it was a bit easier for us to maintain a consistent look and feel to both sections of the site. We invested a lot of time and energy into working with a great designer on the blog, and wanted to carry that work over to the boards as well!

That's turned out nicely, because most message boards don't spend much time on design. So it's been a nice differentiator for us. Along with the warm and supportive community on the site. :-)

As for fancy new forms of social networking, we will consider them on a one-by-one basis. We added @replies after seeing how useful that feature was on other sites. We will consider more features along those lines over time. We've done our best to spruce up the message board format with extra little features, to help keep it fresh!

If you have any suggestions for how we could improve the site, we'd love to hear them! Either here in the comments, or on the suggestions tab:

http://suggestions.hellobee.com

Hope that answers your question!

Hey @mrbee & @mrsbee! So I have a question. What made you decide to do message boards (again) with Hellobee?

Obviously they have been a great success, and they're a model that is used and works well with other similar sites. Still, it seems like message boards are an "older" form of social networking, and I didn't know if you considered having any other kind of community set-up.

I do really like how you've incorporated "walls" and made the boards' user experience more like blogs with comments than traditional threads. And I will always love message boards! Just interested in how you made these decisions... I am a social media geek :)
