We've been trying for quite some time and the stress has led me to gain some weight. One of my closest friends noticed the weight gain and asked me if I was pregnant the last time I saw her. It was even worse coming from someone I'm close to.

I had a stranger (guy) ask me one time if I was pregnant. Which I replied to 'No". Then he continued on to say "are you sure?".... Seriously!! I couldn't believe it. He would not drop the subject! It was horrible!! I was so thankful when he left the store.

I will never ever ask any one if they are pregnant. Even if they super look it. I just won't go there.

I think its a combination of being rude and inquisitive. I would never ever ask someone if they were pregnant. If they want me to know they would tell me

There was a cashier in the grocery store the other day that leaned forward and said "Congratulations. How far along are you?" I told her way to early for her to ask. Then she said oh this must be your second one, "I showed faster with the 2nd one too".

This is my first pregnancy. I'm 10wks. I let it go since she was easily 70yrs old and she was coming from a good place. Plus I do look like I'm much farther along for some reason.

I think it's crazy when people ask this. And when people say "Wow, you're huge!" I'm in shock. I'm only 6 weeks so I've never had anyone say this to me, but I hear it all the time.

I think if anyone says it to me in the future, I'm going to say something along the lines of "You know, your physical well being is at risk when you tell a pregnant woman how large she is!" with a smile. Joking, but not really.

I think a lot of people ask it, not realizing how serious the question is-- just like people who ask couples if/when they're going to get married, asking kids about school, etc. WHat can be a sore subject for some doesn't translate to all. Not to mention, most people are really polite in their responses, so I don't think the "guilty" parties will ever realize that they're being rude.

Seriously, stupidest questions ever!

I hated the twins question. Lots of people asked me it. And I would always have to say, no, I'm just having a one very big baby. And then when she came, I think they understood. She's a big baby! But still, no woman wants to be called big. Even if she's pregnant and it's a baby making her big!

I agree! It's really not a cool thing to ask. When we were ttc for so long, I had a co-worker who asked me that whenever I saw him. It made me want to strangle him and cry at the same time. After going through this, I will never ever ask anyone when they're having kids, are you pg, etc.

The twins thing is crazy too. I have a friend on FB who was super slim, so she popped really early in pregnancy. Even other moms kept asking if she was having two - even though she put ultrasound pics of just one and everything! I felt bad for her every time I read those comments.

I totally agree and never ask. I always wait to be told first. I also never want to make the mistake of someone just having a pooch and not actually being pregnant!

I just think it's rude. It's right up there with "are you having twins?" to a woman who is just popping out quickly.

If someone is pregnant, don't you think they would just say, "I'm pregnant?" Perhaps they are pregnant and they are in their first trimester and they haven't even told their parents yet. Oh and how about this one - maybe they're a woman who's been trying to have children for some time and hasn't been able to? I just feel like this question is so loaded, it should never be asked!

Why do you think people ask this question? General curiosity? They think they'll be "the first to know?" They don't really think before asking?
