I taught a 3 year old preschool class for a couple years before I switched to 4/5's. Oh my goodness. The 3's were exhausting because of the tantrums and they were still slightly baby-like. Haha, our girls are 3 years apart and while I love the age gap, it wasn't like she was changing diapers for me and doing chores! I think how I survived the newborn and terrible 3's is that DD1 went to school for half of the week! </p> <p>For us, the three's were the worst and so were the 4's (first half of the year). But we had a baby and moved across the country during that time, so who knows... I love, love, love the 5's though. I keep hearing that 5-7 yo are "golden years"... years you'll most love to remember your kid by. I was downstairs maybe 1.5 minutes when I heard a huge crash, DS started screaming, and DD came sauntering into the bathroom with a huge smile on her face. In the time I was downstairs, she had trashed the playroom and pulled down the baby gate on top of her brother. I calmed down DS, fixed the baby gate, and then had to physically chase her all over the house to put her in time out and she refused to clean up any of her mess, resulting in me taking all of her toys away. That was like the first 30 minutes of our day, and it continued like that for 12 (!) hours (without any toys to play with, mind you).
