I'm strange & liked when people told me how huge I was...but the face swollen/questions about birth stuff would make me upset too. Just give those people a deadpan look & walk away!

@PawPrints: Hahaha. One of them is my mom, and most of them are older ladies! I don't plan to really say anything... DH & I just will not be posting on FB anymore! I bet even if it's pic of me taking my prenatal vitamins, something bad can come out of it :silly:

@snowjewelz: I would reply individually to each of those comments, in a separate comment directed at each person, with variations of: "Amazingly, that's none of your business!" "Wow, really interesting, none of your business!" "Fascinating opinion! None of your business!" etc....

I'm glad i'm not alone!!! This is why i stay away from facebook too, all of a sudden everyone has an opinion about everything that i'm doing! I posted maybe 1 picture of myself pregnant, and the rest of the pictures were from my baby shower that my sister posted.

I really am not one for small talk in general, so this has been a complete nightmare for me. Like what am i supposed to say when someone says "wow you're huge!" like "thanks i'm housing a human being?" i'm sorry, i have to say i am super grateful to be able to go through this, it wasn't 100% easy for me to get pregnant and i dreamt about this, but i am running out of patience and grace.

At least when it's family (usually it's only on my side, my mom or dad) i can just tell them to shut up (my dad: wow i mean i wonder how big this baby is going to be, look at you - i honestly am not even that big). when it's a coworker, or a superior... it's a little harder. I'd like to run away and hide in a cave until i give birth.

I was just complaining about this to some co-worker! I honestly don't understand why people feel the need to talk to me all the time now that I'm pregnant. I am so sick of the comments on my belly, asking how I'm feeling, and if it's a boy or girl, etc. Just shut up.

I hate that people see me as just a vessel for a baby and not as a human with feelings. We CAN talk about things other than the baby. Current events, the weather, etc. My mom is super guilty of this. On my birthday this year I spoke with her for 30 minutes and she didn't mention my birthday once - just going on and on and on about things for the baby. She called me back 6 hours later apologizing but still.

I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hold my tongue :P Hang in there!

@snowjewelz: Those people sound obnoxious. I did respond to one friend who commented on me eating feta (asked if I knew I wasn't supposed to eat it, which is actually untrue if it is pasteurized) by saying: "If only I was under a doctor's care and they could provide me guidance on what's okay and what's not okay." She hasn't commented since.

It doesn't completely stop once the baby is out either. Then people think it's okay to comment on the post-baby weight. Super rude.

I'm reducing my activity on FB too (I already don't do much). DH posted a food picture over the weekend, it was some crabs/crayfish, and I got a billion (ok fine like 10) comments yelling at me saying how I shouldn't eat shellfish, high cholesterol, are they cooked through, etc etc...

This is why I hated being pregnant. Like...if someone was in an elevator, I would take the stairs to avoid small talk.

Eventually I just started calling people out on their rudeness.

A friend of mine got so fed up with this she started doing it back. They'd say "You're about to pop!" or "Sure it's not twins?" and she'd say, "I know you know how it is! Look how tight those pants are getting!" or some equally appalling thing. When they looked shocked, she'd say, "What? Did I say something wrong? I thought you thought it was okay to comment freely on each other's body?"

It was amazing to watch but I'd never be so brave!

While it's no consolation, you aren't alone! Just try to smile and exit quicky (I know, easier said than done). I try to remind myself that the person commenting has good intentions. Although, to be perfectly honest, I have replied to someone who said my feet were swollen with a rude: "I'm 37 weeks pregnant in the South, what the hell do you expect." It wasn't my finest moment...

Are you eating enough?!" to "Wow you are so big for 5 months!" or "Wow you're so much bigger than I was" or "Wow are you having twins?!"

Let me rephrase - why do people all of a sudden feel like they can freely comment on your body and/or ask you very personal questions about your body when you're pregnant? Why do they treat you like you're a science project and not a person inside this pregnant body? So I might be very pregnant and hormonal and tired and cranky - but I have HAD it with RANDOM people that I don't even know making comments to me about my body like I am not inside my body every single day. How about a hi, good morning, how are you? Instead of "wow you're ready to pop!" "you look extra big today" "i think your face is swollen" "are you preparing to deliver vaginally?" - I don't understand - if these things are not ok to say to someone that you don't know very well when they aren't pregnant, should you take a moment to think about if this is ok to say?

Rant over. Forgive me - it's my last week at work and I am very, very tired. I'm so tired of everyone having an opinion about how I look on a daily basis. I'm so cranky wahhh
