My iron was super low! Once I started on supplements, it helped! But it was still very slow.

I felt like hell. I couldn't sit up, I felt sooo weak. I went for a 4 mile walk when E was about 6 weeks old and it just took it out of me! And I did crossfit until I was 38 weeks pregnant....so.....I was surprised

I didn't feel wiped. It was crazy. I was trying to move furniture less than 12 hours after she was born! I had such a crazy rush for weeks. I did sleep when she slept though and my husband was home for 3 weeks. The lack of sleep wasn't fun by any means, but I felt ok...I already hadn't been sleeping well for weeks due to Braxton Hicks and being uncomfortable towards the end.

It's the lack of sleep.

eta: Plus, labor is hard work! Your body needs to recuperate.

I know the obvious answer is, "because you just had a baby!" But what is it about that that makes you feel so weak?

I was in decent shape through my pregnancy. Nothing spectacular, but I did yoga and went hiking at 34 weeks. I regularly went on long walks with DH and LO. But then you give birth and for the first week, walking across my house was tiring! Today, at 4 weeks postpartum, my mom and the LOs and I went on a walk around a pond...probably about a mile. And I feel like hell. Sooo weak and worn out.

Is it birth? Is it the recovery from pregnancy? Is it the fluid loss? Something about hormones? The sleep deprivation? Something else?

I'm really curious. I mean, I get why your perineum would be sore, but why is just walking so hard? Especially when I could do it pregnant!
