@.twist.: hey lady. I do hope things have got better with L, but incase they haven't I found this link when researching. We are having slightly similar issues with S. Just the first couple of case studies are really useful about sleep cycles- I haven't read the rest.

@.twist.: sorry you are still dealing with this! Why won't they just sleep??

When I'm getting really frustrated I try to remind myself how frustrated I feel when I can't fall asleep, and I'm an adult who understands. So it must be frustrating for them too. I really try to think of that to give me patience when I'm trying to rock her down to sleep for the third time in an hour ;)

@skibobrown: we do a bit of co-sleeping out of pure desperation. However, it really isn't a good fit for us, as it kicks DH out of bed. He can't sleep with how noisy L is.

@illumina: haha, forcing yourself awake is no way to spend your nights!!

@StbHisMrs: it's really not for us either. I really hope this passes soon.

Tonight I've managed to get him down asleep. He'll sleep 5 minutes and then wake up. How do I keep him asleep? Little dude needs to cut this out!

@.twist.: This started 3 days ago for us, and it's brutal. Charlie will be 7 weeks on Saturday, I guess it could be another wonder week, they can come 1-2 weeks early or late according to the book. I've had her sound asleep about 6 times since 9:30, it's now 12:30. I fell asleep for an hour with her on my chest, my neck hurts so bad now, co-sleeping is not for us!

* ETA I just realized it's 1, not 12:30. 6 is going to come fast!

@.twist.: No advice I'm afraid but we're going through the same thing at the moment and have been wondering why S will fall asleep in either of our arms but about a minute after placing her in the moses basket she wakes up and starts crying. I'm sure she's not hungry because I offer her boob and she takes like one suck and pops off. This morning I brought her into bed with us- though like @skibobrown: said, I'm still pretty reluctant to try co-sleeping at this stage, so for a couple of hours I had a sleeping S on one side of me and a sleeping Dh on the other and forced myself to stay awake!!

This is the kind of stuff that made me give up and give co-sleeping a try. I had sworn I'd never do it... until I found out that we all slept better that way on occasions when DD wouldn't go to sleep on her own. Luckily she didn't become too addicted to co-sleeping, so we got her back in her own bed with a pretty easy gradual transition.

@Cherrybee: he's definitely been a little fussier and hungrier than usual, but I feel like he just came out of his 5 week one and it might be a little too early for the 8 week one?? I have no idea. I'm having such a hard time figuring it out.

@Grace: well, I tried waiting a little longer last night and only got moderate success... He stayed asleep when I put him in the crib and then woke up 2 minutes later... Lol

@MrsLilybugg: @JennyG: we definitely try these things. I've even tried gently rocking him right in the crib. My problem is I'm pretty short and I can't get him into the crib (even on its highest setting) without bumping the edge... Haha so I'm pretty shaky getting him in. DH is much better but he has to work in the morning and I don't like waking him up.

@Bookish: I hope so. :/ this is brutal!

@Kemma: I do the gradual lie down, but my shortness makes that a little hard. I will definitely try heating up his bed and lying him on his side! Thank you.

@SugarplumsMom: @scg00387: thanks ladies, I totally wrote this on my iPad hahaha it's been a lifesaver!

@Foodnerd81: I'm definitely going to start doing this. The only reason I have been changing his diaper still is because we are battling thrush and he has a bad diaper rash. :(

@edelweiss: I think you're right. We just need to be more patient with getting him back to sleep. Haha unfortunately for me.

@yellowbird: he is 10 weeks, but he was a premie so only developing at a 7ish week baby? I really have no idea if that plays into it. I'm pretty confused by how that works! And yea. If we try to put him down drowsy I'd say we have a 20% success rate, the other 80% is screaming. Haha

@Smurfette: I think I definitely have to hold him a bit longer. I can't wait to start sleep training. Hahaha

I agree no diaper change unless it feels super full or you know he poop.

I would have to hold R for a good 20 mins after she fell asleep before I could put her down. Then I would put her in the crib and lay my hand on her chest for a couple minutes before I would walk out.

Hang in there! It is tough. Things only got better for us once we sleep trained.

How many weeks is he? I cant remember! I def suggest no diaper change unless #2 is involved.

This never worked for my lo, but what about trying to put him down drowsy but awake. If he fusses you could pat and shush him?

like the others have said, i think going without a diaper change is a good idea if there's no poop!

when my LO started to not fall asleep after a night feeding, i honestly was at a loss. i went back and nursed him a couple of times the first few nights, but eventually i just put him back in the crib and left him alone. he usually fussed for about 15-20 minutes before going back to sleep (and if he didn't, i would keep going back and try to nurse him to sleep). 15-20 minutes feels like a long time at night, though, so i understand if this is not an appealing option.

When you put him down, does he start crying? J started doing this. I try leaving him in there, but staying in the nursery ( like I am right now) and waiting to see if he'll go back to sleep. Most times, I have to retuck his arms into his deafen and replace a pacifier, but he usually goes back to sleep on his own. I know that's not much help if he's fussing a lot when you put him down.

When you put him down maybe you can leave one hand on his back (so he'd be laying on top of it) and the other on his belly for a few minutes. To kind of "trick" him into thinking he's still bring held. Then slowly pull your bottom hand out and after that ( if he's not already awake :( ......) lift your hand that was on his tummy slowly. Maybe you already do this but sometimes that's what I have to do. I hope you got some sleep!

L used to be fine to put down in his crib after each night feeding and he would go back to sleep fine. It might've taken a bit of coaxing but he would eventually stay down.

The last week has been brutal. He absolutely refuses to go to sleep in his crib after his initial put down. He sleeps from about 9pm for ~3 hours and then is up for a feeding. I change his diaper, nurse him to sleep and then ever so gently put him in his crib.

He instantly wake up. No matter how many times I bounce, rock him to sleep, or how careful I am to put him down, the instant his butt or head or both hit the bed, he's awake. Last night hew was awake from 1am - 3am. Right now he's asleep in my arms in the rocker because I gave up trying to put him down.

I'm starting to lose my mind! What do/can I do? This mama needs sleep!!
