@.twist.: yea, i bet he's coming down with a little something, ugh i know its hard trust me...LO was a horrendous sleeper until 6.5 months, and even then was still waking up 1-2x a night for a longgg time, lol. It will pass soon I'm sure! Then he should go back to sleeping good for you!

@.twist.: Ugh! I had it in my head that once we sleep trained (I'm planning to do it at 5.5 months) that would be it - awesome little sleeper who rarely wakes in the night. I'm gutted to read these responses and realise that's not the case. Kill meeeee!

@NovBaby1112: yea, I do appreciate that he won't sleep 12 hours forever. I suppose last night was frustrating on multiple levels and I just vented. I didn't realize it might be a cold until this morning when we all woke up with sore throats (well both my husband and I do, not sure about the little guy haha) and he had way more snot. So I am betting it had something to do with not feeling well.

It's always something; babies are always growing and changing. Sorry!! I'm just thankful I SAH and can rest if we have a bad night. We just got over our first sickness and I felt so bad he couldn't breathe, and it was giving me flashbacks of waking up multiple times a night!

I know it is frustrating that you just trained him, but it is totally normal for babies to regress or wake up more when teething/sick/milestone related. We have gone through a couple regressions after we sleep trained LO at 6.5 months, and they may have lasted a few days to a week, and then she went back to normal without any problem or need to "retrain". Once a baby learns how to do something, they will remember. He might be getting sick, or have an upset tummy, or teething, and need the comfort right now. Just because you sleep train doesnt mean they will sleep 12 hours straight forever- baby sleep is constantly changing and evolving. I KNOW it sucks to have just trained him and now dealing with this, but trust me, it will pass sooner than it came! Hang in there

@.twist.: c has been pooping a lot more at night too. I was thinking it was bc she is up more to eat at night, therefore there is more to poop, but maybe it's the reverse- her tummy is upset so she's waking more? Either way we've had 3 blowouts in four mornings. But Dh gets her in the morning :)

That's everyone, you all made me feel a lot better. I HOPE this is a one time thing. For some reason he seemed to have pooped more than usual at night and I'm wondering if maybe he's getting sick? We are all starting to feel a little under the weather today and I wonder if that is why....

@illumina: I had the same thing in my moms group- a couple of the babies would just doze off sweetly while I looked on a confusion and C whined and cried bc she was hungry. Luckily half the babies there were almost as bad as her at napping so I didn't feel as alone. It really is harder comparing to good little sleepers.

Nothing is permanent! We sleep-trained a month ago and have had a handful of 3am wakings this week too. LO is sick so I've been nursing her but we'll probably have to do it again once she feels better. AND we're traveling next week which is going to royally F things up. You have to view baby's sleep habits like the weather... wait 5 minutes and it'll change :)

I have the world's worst sleeper, at least the one in the 3 year old range.

I had to sleep train 3 times for it to go correctly, at 11 months. Hang in there.

My babies sleep degenerated at just over 3 months and is still horrible now at 4.5 months do you definitely don't have the worst sleeper out there. Most of my friends with babies are also dealing with multiple wakeups a night. It's just developmental. My husband and I take turns and just deal with it for now. We're not against sleep training but knew we wouldn't do it at 4 months because of the holidays coming up (travel and sleep disruptions) and because the book Bed Timing says 6 months plus is ideal for sleep training.

So we're just feeding her on demand ( even at night) and dealing with it. I'm back at work, so it's hard by manageable.

Hang in there!

I feel you! It took me two hours to get E to sleep last night!! She would drift off just long enough for me to go downstairs and then she would spit the dummy out and wail. After that, she only had me up twice during the night which is really good at the moment - I think we're in the middle of that 4 month regression thing - but she's fighting her morning nap now too! Why oh why oh why oh why?!!

@illumina: That sounds familiar. All my friends' babies will fall asleep of their own accord anywhere and everywhere. Mine just whines!

Oh honey :( Do you think you need to start CIO again? I feel your frustration-- yesterday at baby group all the other babies just fell asleep so nicely when they got tired and S was the only baby disturbing the peace as I tried to get her off to sleep! I ended up walking her around the room in the Ergo and one Mum was like "oh, do you have to do that when you're out?" and I was like "oh no, at home too, mostly!" :(

I did sleep training. He was a terrible sleeper and the I did sleep training and he is awake right now crying inhis crib and I have no idea why. The last 2 nights he has woke up way earlier than normal, since training. Tonight he has woken up 3 times already.

Why have I been given the worst sleeper of all time. It hasnt even been a whole month since we did sleep training. I haven't even gotten a whole month of normal sleep since trying to fix his sleep. Why? I don't even know what to do right now. :(
