Most vets in our area have scales in the waiting area and as you check in, you put your dog on the scale, so you can see for yourself and record the dog's weight as you arrive!

Good for you for questioning!

Great vets are hard to come by and worth their weight in gold.....and worth whatever cost!!!

In dealing with our infertility stuff I've been thinking about getting over my reluctance to speak up at the doctor's office lately. So yesterday when I took my dog for a rabies shot, I decided to just ask them if they weighed her, since at her previous visit the vet mentioned she'd gained a pound, weighing 15.5 lbs, and needed to lose it or else she'd be headed in the wrong direction. And I've been working hard on getting her to lose that pound! The tech said to me with such a straight face that they weighed her and she was 23 lbs. DH and I were like "WHAT?" and demanded that she weigh our dog again in front of us, because I was pretty sure she'd lost weight and could only be 23 lbs if she'd exploded or ate another small dog. Sure enough she was 13.5 and had actually lost 2 lbs! (Seriously how could a vet tech not know the difference between a dog that weighs 13 and 23 lbs?) I'm so glad I spoke up for her and kept her from being labeled obese!
