DH is a techie so he knows exactly how to set it up and make it secure. It's so nice to be able to leave LO with a babysitter and check up on him with our phones. If my sister is having a difficult time getting LO to sleep, I can see what he is doing and give her tips on how to help him. I don't know why, but the Foscam completely slipped my mind when I was looking at different ones! While I have heard the story of the hacked one, I think some measures can be taken to help prevent that (And I'm sure they have upped their security since then too)! It's great when DH is at work and wants to peek in, or when he's out of town. </p> <p>Regarding the above story, we have our password locked (and not an easy one) as is our wi-fi. Not to say that there's no chance that it could happen, but it's ONE single (albeit super creepy) case that's been reported. I've done everything possible to make it as hard as possible for anyone to hack into it, but I can't completely bubble wrap him, nor do I want to. I recognize that that case is a definite exception, not the rule, and I refuse to let that dictate my behavior. The chances of it happening are just.so.miniscule. SUPER creepy...The parents heard a man's voice coming through the monitor, and because the little girl's name was written above her crib, he even knew her name. It streams to the computer, ipad and i think their cell phones. (They always text me when I'm late putting the baby to bed. Gees.) But you know... I've seen news stories recently that say something about the baby monitors getting hacked or the lines getting switched. Sorry I don't know more detail but i'm not techy at all. There is an iPhone/iPad app that we use. A few days ago I put LO down for a nap then went to Starbucks (DH was home) and I pulled up the app and checked on her while I was in the drive-thru line! But reviews I'm reading on Amazon (no matter which brand) seem to be mixed and it sounds like many are glitchy and drop their connection a lot! </p> <p>Does anyone have a video monitor that they can use with their iPhone/smartphone? Do you like it? Or should we spend the money on a "regular" camera with a screen?</p> <p>Thanks for your expertise!! </p>
