They were on sale. The leather is really nice! I was a little iffy on the darkened toes, but once they were on my feet, I didn't even notice it anymore. And they're not slippery! Some boot soles are really slippery. I went a half size up so I could wear thick socks when it gets cold &amp; I love that they call them 'athletic cut shaft' instead of wide calf, wide calf makes me feel like a heifer :D thank you guys!! </p> <p>Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! I have wide calves and thin ankles and the DT boots are a nice balance - not so thin in the ankle that it makes the boot look funny, but not baggy at the ankle either. Also I'm short and have short legs and defined calves so even if I find a boot wide enough, it gapes at the top because it's too tall! I randomly found these at Nordstrom Rack 2 years ago....they are amazing, perfect height, perfect width, I can tuck my jeans into them....I love them! And I like how they are all leather without the elastic....I personally do not like the elastic gusset look. The heel is the perfect height.
