I would keep any pieces that you really love (I'm imagining a size 10 dress in my closet that I haven't fit into in about 2 years - but I will never throw out :meh: ), but throw out anything that would be cheap to replace. Before I got pregnant I lost about 25lbs, but I purposely bought cheap clothes to see me through the loss, or wore clothes that were too big, because the ultimate plan was to get pregnant so i knew I would grow again. I'm almost 7 months pp and I am just about the same weight I was before the 25lb loss. I've still got that dress, and I will get into it again!

@FliegepilzHut: I could have asked this same question.

I'm holding onto my smaller clothes. Just in case.

I don't know if it's the metformin or the BCP that I'm on, or maybe I'm using food to cope with the failed treatments, but I've gain 13 pounds in the last 2 months, I think. Or maybe I just enjoy food and don't really watch what I eat and turning 30 might have changed my metabolism. :silly: I thought I was just super bloated lately but then I got on a scale last week and realized that it wasn't it. :meh: I need to start going back to the gym.

I was skinnier after I had my daughter than before I got pregnant...Actually thinner than I can remember ever really being. Mostly due to BFing and being paleo....

@twodoghouse: How does your post-pregnancy weight compare with pre-marriage?

I can blame fertility drugs but mostly pregnancy (and not working out as hard) for my weight gain. I'm currently a healthy weight and fairly toned, but increasingly skeptical about whether I'd ever be able to fit in those pants I wore when I was twenty because...hips. :meh:

@mrs. tictactoe: @Mrs. Lion: I think I will go with this...I love these pants, but haven't been able to wear them comfortably in a while. If I somehow, miraculously, return to that shape again, I will celebrate by buying awesome new pants!

@Baby Boy Mom: @blackbird: @jojepie: Maybe I'll keep a pair out of sentimentality...and as a yardstick, so I'll know if I'm ever that size/shape again?

I gained a lot after getting married (6.5 years ago) and an extra 10 lbs going through fertility treatments. Post partum I am about 20 lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight. I have lost weight in weird places like my hands and feet (down a shoe size and my rings are now at least one size too big). I also lost a lot of weight in my face, which didn't get big with pregnancy, just had been rounder and rounder over the last few years. I can fit in a lot of old clothes, but I'm BFing so I don't know how long this will last. One thing to keep in mind is that even losing the weight, things have rearranged themselves. My hips and ribs seem wider still, and I don't know if that will ever change. I'm about 5 months PP (with twins).

It's just 25lbs-I'd keep them!
I've been between 173lbs and 121lbs, and have clothing that fits me from 160lbs to 120lbs.

I think it depends on whether you plan on working at it or not, and more importantly, whether those clothes represent the sense of style that you currently want to project. For me, I got rid of things that no longer went with my sense of style regardless of what size they were.

I got rid of some of my favorite items because I thought I couldn't fit them again pp. I gave them to a friend, but I guess they weren't her style so she passed them on. (I asked her later on to see if she has one particular item that I was attached to, but she no longer had it. :bummed: ) I think I purged my closet because I was feeling guilty that I was keeping clothes I couldn't fit. I should have just stored them somewhere else for a while. We'll see how it goes this time around.

Hmmm... Thanks for the thoughts! My feeling is that this is definitely (almost certainly) going to get worse before it gets better (i.e. pregnancy beyond the first tri). More importantly, is it even possible to stay the same size as you were at 21, longterm?

Oh i definitely think you can fit into them again...do you plan on working to get those 10 off? It takes effort and time. If you're going to work at it, keep the clothes! If not, then just go with what you are comfortable with! Or just box them up for "someday"

I actually updated my wardrobe recently. I have a lot in my current size now and got rid of a size I haven't been in years. My goal post pregnancy is to stick to the size I bought and have been for awhile.

There's a good chance they could fit. I was recently able to go "shopping" in my closet for some of my old clothes and it was fun to not have to spend any money on them.

I probably have 5 sizes in my closet currently.

but I try to do the one in/one out thing when I get new clothes. and once or twice a year I look back through the too small stuff to try to decide if I DO get back to that size, will I even want to wear those clothes?

I like to have the next smaller size as inspiration so I can try it on periodically (it takes me FOREVER to lose a pants size). But I also don't have a massive closet so it's nice to occasionally make room for stuff I love now and can wear now.

I got rid of almost all of my "too small" stuff and pledged that when I do get to my happy weight I will celebrate with new stuff! It helped me let go of the guilt without giving up on my goal. I think it's important to have clothes you feel comfortable in now.

I got rid of all of my smaller stuff and sort of regret it. I had a similar weight gain before I got pregnant and thought I'd never lose it all, but I did. On the other hand, I did get to buy a bunch of new stuff, which was fun

So, really I'm just needing an extra shove to go clean out my closet...

I stayed pretty much the same size for about 10 years...and now, after 2 failed pregnancies, I seem to have acquired an extra 10-15 pounds to the everything (hips, thighs, breasts, etc). I'm hoping to have a successful pregnancy soon... :goodluck:

Is there any (reasonable) chance I'm going to fit in my pre-pregnancy (2.5 years ago) clothes again? Can I just get rid of everything in my "old size"?
