Is try weaning the 3am and pushin it to 5am...and then maybe after the 5am one she will go back to sleep?

As far as Ben goes, can you maybe give him a spit on the floor to sleep in your room so it's not your bed?

@HLK208: my mom would do this with my brother and I. We spent many nights sleeping in sleeping bags next to her bed. It was enough for us to feel close and safe but she didn't have to share the bed.

Ugh, that stinks! What if you started having a sleeping bag and pillow or something like that ready for DS on your floor next to the bed? Friends of ours do this when their preschooler has bad dreams... Then he could come in and feel safe by sleeping in the same room as you, but you could be more comfortable in your own bed.

@HLK208: you might have to work on th eissues one kid at a time because if you try to do both your head might explode!!! Or you could tag team with DH and each try to work with one kid? You night weand while he works on getting DS to go back to bed and not feel frightened etc.

Oh man that sounds rough. What about making a floor bed for your 4 yo? He can come into your bedroom but has to sleep on the floor bed.

DS is a bad sleeper too. Last couple night have been bad. The other night he woke every half hour beginning around 1:30 am and then decided 4 am was when he wanted to be up for the day. :(

@HLK208: Well, I think you guys have to decide what's important to you. Is most important that you continue nursing and that your son can come in whenever he wants? Or is it more important at this stage to start getting more sleep. There's not really a right answer, it's all about what you're comfortable with :).

@MrsCB: we've talked to him about staying in bed but DH really wants to keep the open door policy. I don't want him to be scared in the middle of the night either :-/ it's only about 3 nights a week that he comes into our room usually though (more this week).

@HLK208: try it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised and you will get a lot more sleep in the long run. Give her a week to adjust. I nurse L at 5.30am when she wakes up and also right before she goes to bed, but not night milk.

Honestly, once I but the bullet and night weaned her, the whole house slept soooo much better.

@plantains: I should probably give it a go and see what happens! I'm nervous just because I haven't had sleep as is...but DH is off tomorrow soo maybe I'll just leave it to him since I have handled all of their crazy wake-ups all week!

@HLK208: Hahahaha not alone! ;-) I haven't nursed since he was 5 months old but we still give him a night time bottle (for shame) but seriously if he's screaming and I have to wake up in 3 hours and be productive at work, that's going to happen. Sorry pediatricians who don't like it. You can come over at 3am and calm him down then! :P

DD is nearly 13 months and still wakes up twice a night - usually 11:30 (I can rub her back and she goes back to sleep) and 3am to nurse...she's been waking up at 5am for good!!

DS who is now 4, wakes up to get in our bed at 2am and takes forever to fall back to sleep and then is up for good at 5am too.

It's KILLING me!!!! Last night was so bad. DS came in my room at his usual time - he wanted to sleep on my pillow and he kicked me in his sleep. When DD woke up at 3am, I nursed her and just decided to sleep in my son's bed since there was no way there would be enough room for me after I had been gone!

I am so tired. I feel like this will never end! Does anyone else have an older baby who doesn't sleep well? DS was at least sleeping through the night at 12 months-3 years (then he started waking up from bad dreams).
