It's quite common for feet to "grow" during pregnancy. The ligaments in your feet become more lax and the arch drops therefore "lengthening" your foot. Some peoples tighten up, some don't... but it's not from getting fat.

I haven't given birth yet, but the only ones of my friends whose feet didn't go back to their normal, pre-pregnancy size were the ones who never lost their baby weight. My SIL finally got her old shoe size back after losing over 60 lbs doing Weight Watchers. Feet can get fat too. :)
I'm sure if your feet are only swollen due to water retention, you'll be back in those Tory Burch shoes in no time. :)

@marriedandlovingit: Here's your partner! I'm a Bigfoot too and really don't need them permanently expanded. I read that it's part of the ligament stretching that goes on- mama nature doesn't distinguish between the ones around your womb and the ones in your feet, and doesn't bother putting them back the way she found them either, so feet that go up a size are inclined to stay at the bigger size, minus any swelling etc.
It's mad, though- if it was always exactly like that, then my MIL (had 7 pregnancies) would have to wear boats for shoes, and she has really small feet.

This scares me! I'm 33 weeks and my feet are still the same size. They better not grow on me because I am already a 10 1/2! I'd be screwed if they grew anymore.

A lot of my friends had permanently bigger feet after baby. That was the length rather than swelling -that should go down!

My mom's feet grew with her first pregnancy then stayed the same for the next two. My SIL's feet grew half a size with each baby. For both, the swelling went down, but their feet never shrunk in size. I'm a little terrified of this because I have a lot of shoes, and I would rather not have to buy a whole new collection.

The swelling and thickness to my feet went down but they stayed a size bigger. I was so mad because none of my shoes fit.

The answer to your question is maybe. The swelling will go down. The water retention will go away. Your feet may never go back to the same size but they will look totally normal again. I'm 6 months PP and while my fingers and feet didn't change size I still can't get my PP pants to fit correctly (I'll blame the C-section for that one) and I'm running now to make it back into that size. Everything else in my closet fits though.

I've been in that funk that you are currently in and I've had to learn that it takes patience to get back to where you want to be. Just don't give up. And I've had many people remind me that the weight may come off fast but to get the tone back into your middle/thigh area takes time.

@stiffaknee: I'm currently lusting after Tory Burch flats myself but I'll have to wait at least another year before looking into them since I don't know what will happen to my feet during this pregnancy! But I did look into things such as shoe stretchers after my feet grew. They're like shoe trees but you can make them bigger to stretch the fabric out. None of my shoes were that great or expensive so I just ended up getting rid of everything. If I were you I'd try that!!! Then if your feet end up going back to normal, you can always use insoles to make them snugger again.

I heart Toms now... :) Soooo comfy.

@Mrs. Wagon-I'm 32 weeks pregnant now, was a size 7.5 shoe and now can't even squeeze my feet into a size 9 (I feel like Cinderella's evil step-sister!).

Since this is my first pregnancy, I have no idea whats to expect after the baby comes!

@Artbaby-thats good to know...the shoes I bought were so amazing (and I got them on sale) so the thought of not ever being able to wear them hurts my heart.

@stiffaknee: How far post delivery are you? My feet were always 7.5-8 and I could barely get into my fake uggs after delivery, and they were a 9! It took three people to push my feet into them. My feet eventually shrank back down (they were bloated with fluids from the IV... I basically had it for 72 hours straight) but I am now an 8-8.5. I had to get rid of all my shoes except flip flops and uggs.

My ring size also went from a 5 to a 6.

As for the rest of my body... my bra size is the same, but my clothing sizes are definitely different. Everything went pretty much back to pre-baby except my waist measurement. Even with exercise and eating right, I had a ton of loose skin and will probably eventually need a mommy tuck. But that's way in the future. And I've always had a bit of a tummy and no defined waist, so it's not that bad since all my clothes pretty much covered that area anyway.

I think the only part of me that did go back to normal is my feet. I'm back to my normal, prebaby shoe size.

I know that after having a baby, certain things will never be the same...and this is going to sound so vain, but will my feet go back to normal? Right now they are so wide (and swollen) they look like Fred Flintstone's feet...

I made the mistake of buying a few pairs of Tory Burch flats early in my pregnancy (thinking they would be great since they were flats and attempting to prepare for my life as SAHM/Buckhead Betty) not realizing that my feet would get so big and wide and hideous. My feet look terrible even in the largest of flip flops :(
