My/LO’s favorite apps are:</p> <p>Elmo ABC's (has videos, word/item association, tracing letters, a place where your LO can "color" on the screen and draw things and lots more. Awesome app, well worth the $$). </p> <p>PianoBall - this is better with sound</p> <p>The Monster at the End of the Story (Elmo and Grover, has the story plus activities for LO to do built into every page)</p> <p>Talking Ginger Kitty (better with sound, the cat repeats whatever LO says it to, but you can also wash kitty, pet kitty (and it purrs), and brush kitties teeth)</p> <p>Bloom (not a kids app, but awesome for LO)</p> <p>Also, there is a good Disney movie app. When you buy new Disney movies, there is a special code inside the dvd case and you log on to this app, put in the code and it downloads the entire movie to your ipad. We usually just use it to FaceTime, but I'm trying to get her used to it. We on long flights we usually rent one of the ipads on the plane with preloaded movies it really helps my little one. But honestly, I can barely hear the iPad when I'm sitting right next to it. Planes are loud!</p> <p>At 15 months we just had games on the iPad because he wasn't into TV then. Peekaboo Pets and Peekaboo HD were his favourite. I also second lift-the-flap books (the more flaps the better!), markers and scrap paper. We just flew on Friday with our 16 mo twins and the iPad totally helped occupy their attention. He watched a few shows/videos that we downloaded--Fireman Sam, Yo Gabba Gabba, and some videos about construction vehicles. </p> <p>My advice would be to introduce him to these videos before the trip. It takes my LO a few times to get interested in any type of show, so if that had been the first time he saw it, he wouldn't have really been into it. </p> <p>Also, new lift the flap books! We brought a Trucks one that entertained LO for like 3 hours. He only uses my phone or ipad for facetime with grandparents and for music. But, he REFUSED to put in the headphones, so music didn't happen anyway.<br /> To be honest, it wasn't a fun plane ride, but the people around us all told us to relax and that he was "just being a child..we've all been there before."
