so I just got back from my scan and no, we were not able to hear the heartbeat, but we did see it! I am measuring 5w6d

It's probably unlikely you'll hear it but you may be able to see it. My OB doesn't attempt listening to the heartbeat until 12 weeks but we could clearly see it at 8 weeks.

I think you definitely won't be able to hear it, but you might be able to see it.

I had an internal scan at 5w6d and the tech could clearly see and measure a heartbeat of 130 but having said that I know that's definitely on the early side. I apparently have a retroverted uterus so the tech couldn't see much from the abdominal ultrasound.

There's a chance but I wouldn't expect it at that stage. Def don't freak if they can't find it.

I saw a heartbeat at 6+3 and baby measured 6 exactly with a transvaginal ultrasound. I heard a heartbeat at 6+6 (I was back at the doctors due to bleeding), baby measured 6+4 at that ultrasound.

We saw, but didn't hear, the heartbeat via transvaginal u/s at 6w6d. They were able to measure to tell us that the baby was right on track for what I had calculated as my EDD. If it's too early to see or hear a heartbeat, I'd ask to go back in a week. Good luck!

This pregnancy, we saw it (with an abdominal us) at 6 weeks exactly. With a previous pregnancy, we saw it at 6+4. But so early, it will be very contingent on your dates - a day or two can make a big difference - and on the equipment and skill of the tech. I think I would have ideally had the first scan later, when there is less uncertainty about whether you should be able to see it or not, but because of a history of molar pregnancy, that wasn't an option for us.

I don't think you'd be able to hear one but maybe be able to see. I've never had an appointment that early but saw the heartbeat for my first at 8 weeks. I would assume you won't see anything and be pleased if you do.

I assume you'll only be able to see the flicker of anything. Can you reschedule for a week later? That's what I did for mine and still only got to see the flicker at 6+5

I just had my 9w appt (for my third) and expected a transvaginal US or a doppler heart beat but doc said nope to both! I was surprised! I would think 6w way too early to hear anything but if they did a transvaginal US, see the flicker of the HB, at least that's how it was with our first.

At just over 6 weeks, they weren't able to find my baby's yet.

It'll depend on the quality of the US and the person doing the scan most likely. If it's there yet. And you might only be able to see it, not hear it.

I probably wouldn't go in expecting it. Consider it a bonus if they happen to find it.

Tomorrow is my first scan and I am super nervous. Based on my LMP I will be 6w1d. I know that many say that they were able to hear a heartbeat at 6w. However, I have a feeling I'm not quite 6 weeks yet, I typically ovulate a day or 2 later than the norm. MY guess is that I'm closer to 5w5d. Do I still have a chance of hearing the heartbeat? I have been a ball of nerves and I feel like hearing that could calm me a bit.

TIA!
