Sure. I had a little one when I was in high school. It was nice to watch TV when I went to bed. That's the age I'd find it appropriate - maybe around 14 or 15? I don't think it's needed as a young child, however. ETA - since others have mentioned it, I say no computer in their room, however. I have no problem with them using the computer in a common space, but definitely not in their bedroom. DH disagrees with me on this to some degree, but I feel very strongly that my kid does not need a tv or computer in their room. When they hit high school and can pay for it themselves, then we will talk. I grew up without one in my room but we had a den/play room area that my sister and I basically had to ourselves. Our bedrooms didn't even have cable outlets! My 11 year old brother has an ipad that he's obsessed with (he bought it with his own money/gift cards), but I'm not sure if my mom lets him use it in his room by himself. My parents let me have a tv when I was older, but I was never a really big TV person so it was no big deal. But I would rather my kids be doing other things than watching tv. And if they are going to watch tv, I don't want them hiding themselves in their room.
