We make a good living, but we put every spare penny towards loans. We do minimal retirement contributions or savings, we rent, have paid off older cars, and no other debt. We seriously live on like 25% of our income and everything else aside from church tithing goes to loans. We hope to pay off everything off in the next 2 years, maybe a tad longer depending on finances post-baby. Totally depends because his school is piloting a PhD program in his field in a few years, and it would depend on how much he would be able to work while studying at the same time. A masters he can do part time a couple of classes a semester over 3-4 years, but not so sure about that PhD since the program hasn't even started yet!</p> <p>And yeah, we'd both be overjoyed for our kids to go wherever he works for.
