I would think that I had failed in some regard. I see firsthand how school can be a struggling experience for kids who do not like to read. It'll seriously suck if our kid doesn't like to read -- and I'm worried about it, because I worry this generation coming up won't want to do that at all, with all the technology around. I LOVE to read, but my husband doesn't read EVER. I think he's read ONE book in the past few years and I just think that's sooooooooooo sad. I do actually worry about this, because DH grew up in a culture where reading was not valued at all. His parents never read to him (due to their limited education), no books in the house, nothing. He doesn't get that I like to sit down and read, because it is not anything he valued growing up. I, on the other hand, adore reading, and look forward to sharing so many of my favorite books with future LOs. My parents read with me every night before bed, and I want to be sure that DH and I instill the love of reading from a young age. I love reading and love reading to my lo! As a nanny, I once spent four hours curled on the couch reading books to the 3-4 year old. I was in heaven hahaha!! I've always been a huge reader, but so has my husband. One of the main reason some kids don't like to read is they find it difficult. I love to read so much and have so many books that I'd like to share with my kids one day. Reading was a great source of comfort for me as a child. My husband never liked to read though. I really want my kids to take after me in this area.
