At my school it was Adidas coats! I'm thankful the charter school ds goes to has uniforms! As high end designer as. I get for him is Gap, Hurley, Quicksilver and the like. DD has higher end clothes but I've bought them used or on super sale! I also thrift shop for dsd's clothes, mind you I only buy quality like new clothes. We pay their Mom quite a bit a month and she splurges on their clothes ;)</p> <p>I also recall in either eighth grade or my freshman year I did really well with my grades and I'd been coveting a Dooney &amp; Bourke small bag, my Mom took me out and bought it for me! I had that purse until well into my 20's! Our plan is to tell our kids that we'll buy them clothing/shoes but if they want something that's more expensive, we'll only pay $x and they have to save up the rest to buy it.</p> <p>We really don't want our kids to value designer clothes. When I was a teenager I bought all my clothes at value village and I did just fine. Infact, I loved it! It was an important lesson to not get wrapped up in that crap. To me "designer" stuff is such a waste of money.</p> <p>ETA: And that goes for even their own money from babysitting/a part time job. That is another lesson that I want to teach my kids. Just because you have money doesn't mean you can spend it on anything you want any any given time.
