I think I would as long as we continued living in our neighborhood. I remember riding bikes, climbing trees, chasing birds and so much more when I was younger. Some of the best times of my life. I want my kids to have those types of experiences too.

I will - this is one of my favorite memories growing up! Our neighborhood is very safe - lots of big open spaces and kids all around.

We live on a cul dasac with all families. We all are outside every afternoon playing with the kids running from yard to yard. It is awesome. We are always out there now though (and if one of the parents is busy for a bit we watch their kids). DD (10) is allowed to play at the park after the bus drops her off, but I am able to see the park from my kitchen and can yell for her to come home.

As far as being unspervised I am not sure when I will feel comfortable letting them roam. I know I would go for bike rides at that age, but now as a parent I am so paranoid. I also had to walk to school and I won't let DD. She askedd today if she could walk when it gets warmer, I am not really sure what to tell her:/

Depends on our neighborhood. I would if stayed in this house because we live on a culdesac where we know all of our neighbors. But we'll only be here a few more years so I'll have to reevaluate when I find out what our new neighborhood looks like.

I remember being as young as 8, being outside, riding bikes, going to the park, hanging out on the lawn of a friend's house, etc. unsupervised and just coming home when it got dark. It was no big deal. It seems so unheard of right now...

I HOPE my kids will want to play outside with other kids...I would like to think I will let them...
