My parents worried I'd hide away in my room watching it and their fears were basically spot on. The computer I wouldn't use much (there was no internet back then) but I'd sneak to watch scary shows late at night. I want our home to be one of safety and accountability. My parents always put the TV/computers in an open family space, we never had anything to hide. And now that the internet is such a dangerous place I feel the need to continue that more than ever. We actually don't even have cable, just netflix, but still there will be no tv. I wouldn't be surprised if laptops are standard for doing their homework, and I wouldn't blame my teenager for wanting to be able to do homework in his/her own room. Hubs grew up with TV in his room and I didn't. I'm really not OK with a TV in our kids room so hopefully I will win that battle.
