Also lots of breweries in Eugene and close to Portland (if you're interested I can give you names).</p> <p>If you're into hiking Silver Falls State Park southeast of Salem is amazing. There are a few different trails that take you by 10 waterfalls - some you can even hike behind!</p> <p>Also, the coast is only an hour away from the valley so I'd recommend spending some time there. Newport and Lincoln City are a bit farther south and both great, too. If that's in your budget great- if not Hotel Oregon in Mcminnville is awesome. And it's in a walkable city. There are also several B&amp;Bs in the area. It is always nice in Oregon in July.</p> <p>If you want the highest end restaurant in the area check out The Painted Lady- it was just James Beard nominated. Recipe in Newberg is my favorite dinner in the area.
