We had ours setup when LO was born. While it names her, it also provides for any future children so that we don't need to worry about updating it unless we have some major changes we want to make. </p> <p>The lawyer took care of all of it and the hardest part was figuring out guardianship &amp; backup guardian details. It is something I have on our list, but we don't have an attorney yet to help us through it.... and I have NO idea how to find a good attorney.</p> <p>The one thing we have done on our own is to set up a 529 account for our LO. Even if you leave everything in a will for your wife there may end up being some kind of a dispute or hold up with actually executing your will meaning she's left with no access to the funds in the meantime. This only applies to accounts where you're not both joint owners. Say you have a private checking account where bills are paid out of each month, it would be important for her to have immediate access to that.</p> <p>I would also add to make sure you have a list of accounts, passwords/codes, locations etc. so your loved ones don't have to hunt down your checking account at a bank 7 miles from your house.
