I have crate and barrel Viv for my every day wine glasses. They really haven't ever broken except for a few when I was first figuring out how to hand wash them in my tiny kitchen sink. And they are inexpensive enough that they are easy to replace if you do break one.

@Boogs: @gingerbebe: Thanks! Found a set I like, 6 for $12. LOL Those will do nicely for an everyday set.
Eventually, it'll be nice to get a set of Riedels for special occasions. But can't spend the $ right now. :/
Those with Riedels, where did you buy them? Do the Macys coupons work on them or is it a excluded brand?

You've already gotten some great suggestions, but I'll just throw out there to AVOID the Macy's Cellar sets at all cost. About 18 months ago (less!) we started with a set of 8 white/8 red as our everyday glasses, and we are down to maybe 4 white and 2 - maybe even only 1 - red. The glasses crack, the stems snap....I'm definitely disappointed! Our IKEA glasses never broke, so we may go back to those.

We have Riedel Vinum (so big, but not the super big series) glasses for specific varieties of reds and whites, and a set of stemless chardonnay glasses, but don't get those out except for nicer wines alone or with friends who appreciate wine. For cheaper wines, people who don't really care, or parties (where glasses are more apt to be broken), we use an everyday set.

We use Reidels for stemmed glasses. I used to work in a cooking store (Sur La Table) and they were the most durable - based on someone who had to dust and rearrange them all the times, they were the least likely to break even if I banged them into the shelf by accident! So that's what I registered for. I mostly use my Waterford stemless though.

@regberadaisy: Did you look at the French Wine glasses?

Might be a good compromise, they're more sturdy than a regular stem and they have a nice look as well.

I like and use both the IKEA stemless and the Crate and Barrel stemless. Having gone stemless, I doubt I’ll ever go back to stems. We have some nicer stems for formal dinners, but I love stemless for everyday.

The IKEA ones are cheap, and just OK quality and they don't feel as nice in my hand as other brands do (this is probably personal preference tho). They get somewhat “cloudy” over time, which the C&B have not; but for a buck a glass or whatever, who really cares. If you have a C&B outlet anywhere near you – check there. That’s where I buy most of my C&B stuff, great bargains.

@gingerbebe: Wow I just looked at Crate & Barrel and I'm surprised what a good deal they have on stemware. They have some collections for $4 a glass!
If we didn't have an apartment with limited space Id totally grab a few for every day use. I currently use our $30/glass Riedel from our wedding and I'm in constant fear of them breaking! But literally I have zero room in my kitchen for even one more wine glass. Womp womp.

Schott Zwiesel Titan Pure collection. We have both red and white. I LOVE them. We used to have villeroy and boch and after a while most broke (granted they lasted 6 years). These are fantastic. A little more modern looking than my last glasses, excellent feel in the hand, weighted nicely, and they go in the dishwasher. They are about 10 bucks a glass. So I don't know what you consider pricey but they are worth it. I've dropped them in our stainless steel sink and on our marble counters and no breaks. I've also given the bar glasses (long drink and whiskey) as gifts to my parents and they love them as well.
