Footed sleeper seems like the way to go! Also, good thinking on the car seat boot @rachiecakes: I had forgotten about those!

DD came home in December in Chicago in an ivory, cable knit romper with long sleeves and a matching hat.

Oooh, good thread. LO will be born in early November up in Minnesota...so there's a good chance it'll be cold (but I guess it could also be 80 degrees...who knows!)! I think we're planning on just a sleeper and then we'll get a JJ Cole BundleMe and call it good.

I brought my LO home in February in Maryland in a footed sleeper with a fleece hat and one of these for the car seat -

http://www.babypolargear.com/nuzzler.html

He was definitely warm enough!

LO was born in January in Canada. We brought her home in cotton pjs with a warm fleece one piece on top. And a fuzzy hat. DH was right outside the door so she wasn't outside for long. We used a JJ Cole bundle me and warm blankets during early outings with the stroller.

I brought them home (end of November, Seattle) in footed PJs, hats and fleece blankets. They were outside for about 30 seconds, from the hospital to the car and the car into the house, so I wasn't super worried.

DS was born 12/28/12 in New England...so very cold!! He was also 6 weeks early and under 5 lbs when we brought him home. He was in a onesie with blankets and DH warmed up the car and drove it right up to the door of the hospital so DS was only outside for less than 2 seconds. I'd say a hat, warm onesie and blankets should be enough. Oh and we had a JJ Cole Bundle Me which helped keep him super warm all winter!!

DD was born in January, but it was the warmest winter we've had in 50 years so it was in the 60's I think. We just had her in a long sleeved shirt and pants w/ a little hat on and covered her w/ a blanket.

I brought my son home in December, in Switzerland. We had snow that week, but he wore a footed pajama and a hat. Over the car seat, we had the cover@MrsCB: linked to.

We had three snowsuits, he used none of them.

We brought DS home on dec 22 at like 11pm. Just dressed him in long sleeves and bundled him up in a blanket!
It was cold, but we warmed the car up first.

You can't use snowsuits in the carseat, so we won't be using that for our end of November baby. We'll have him in some type of outfit or sleep n play and either a car seat cover (http://jjcolecollections.com/car-seat-cover) or a blanket tucked around him.

DS was born in December in Boston. I put him in a footed pajama and hat and had a fleece cover/boot for the carseat. He was nice & toasty in there.

I had bought 3 or 4 snowsuits and he never once wore any of them.

i live in so cal, but brought my baby home in the winter. we just had her bundled up with warm pjs, a warm blanket and a hat. i don't think i newborn snowsuit would be worth it as usually newborns are held and bundled up! even when i was in europe, those kiddos didn't have snowsuits on, but had a warm sleeping bag type thing around them in their strollers. but a colder climate person may need to chime in here!

Did you bring home Baby from the hospital in a snowsuit? Or, just wrapped up well? I know this depends on climate, just curious what peoples experiences were.
