Thanks for the input! Maybe I will stick with the black jeans...but the top I want to wear with is black and white stripes. :) Black jeans, black and white striped top, pink scarf...silver shoes and accessories? I really want to buy something but I refuse. I'm glad you girls don't think too much dark stuff is bad.

@shopaholic: A blazer would be so cute, but of course all mine are dark colors...black jeans, hot pink shirt, black striped blazer? But I kind of need to wear a scarf to cover up low necklines...most of my maternity tops show boobage pretty easily, I think b/c my boobs are small and high up.

I'm going with one of two dresses...i'm leaning towards the light blue one, but I also have a cute black one! I will definitely be wearing tights with them and some cute flats.

I don't think black is too dark, given that it's winter! If I were you, I'd wear whatever piece is more comfortable, and that sounds like the black jeans. With nice shoes and a colorful top, it should be plenty nice. My SIL wore black pants and a patterned top to hers last February and it looked totally right.

I'm thinking of wearing a dress & maternity tights (maybe with tall boots) if I can find something I like. Possibly a long-sleeved maxi dress if that's possible. With tights underneath still if it's cold!

I like the black skinny jeans idea too (but I don't have any that will fit by then!) with a cute top and maybe a cardigan or blazer!

I haven't had mine yet, but I'm thinking like you - I don't really want to buy any more maternity clothes and I don't even have a maternity dress. I'm thinking I'm going to wear jeans, a cute shirt, and a belted sweater. It might end up being dark, but I don't care. I want to be comfortable!

@tororojo: I don't think it would be dreary, especially if you had fun accessories to go with it. You could always do the pants to stay on the safe side and not worry about it! :)

Hah I wore yoga pants and a nice (longer) belted sweater to mine. I think either of your options is fine! You couldn't pay me to wear a dress/skirt at this point... swollen pasty legs is not the best look in January ;)

I am having the same issue. I don't want to show my legs since it it is winter. Probably will wear some pants I wear to work and a cute top to both I have this month.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: If I wore a colored scarf I feel like bright tights would be a bit much, and if I wear black patterned tights is that too dreary?

I think either would be cute. Could you get some cute inexpensive tights for the dress? So you aren't self conscious about your legs?

Assuming your shower is/was in the colder months, what did/what will you wear?

I don't want to buy any more clothes at this point, and my best options are either black skinny jeans or a black knit dress...I could do a colorful scarf and fun flats with either, but is it bad to wear black to my shower? Do I get a pass since it's winter? I'd really prefer to wear the jeans since my legs are pasty white...is it bad to wear jeans to my shower? I have this vision in my head of a flowery, bright colored dress, but that seems silly for January. *ETA* The venue is my cousin's house so it's not the fanciest of affairs, but I don't think it will be super casual, either.
