@fancyfunction: yes! That sounds so fun! Hot chocolate bar afterwards = perfect. I have so many fond memories of ice skating at Wollman rink (Central Park) after school then getting hot chocolate inside with my friends!

We have Jan and Mar birthdays. For DD1, we had a parties either at home (put heaters on the back patio in case people wanted to go outside), and we also had it at a bouncy house place.

Since we live in such a warm climate (but still gets in the 30's in winter) and it doesn't really snow, I was thinking of having the yard filled with snow, getting some sleds and shovels and letting the kids have a snow day.

So far, we've just had family parties at the house. I'm looking forward to when she's a bit older to do an ice skating party. :)

At that age they'll be more than fine with just your LO's toys.
My niece and nephew have winter birthdays and they've done bowling, bounce house, science center, laser tag, etc. really any indoor activity space is open to you! If I have a winter baby I've thought about doing a pool party at the Y!

Both my kids' birthdays are in the winter (late November and February). We usually just have family over to our house - no real activities besides eating, opening presents, and hanging out. The kids don't seem to mind being cooped up for a party. When they are older, I might look into one of those indoor inflatable gyms for a kid party though.

What have you done for your LOs with winter birthdays and you are actually in cold climate? DD's first birthday is in Dec, we'll probably do a small party at home but I just feel like there's not much to do when everyone's couped up inside! There will probably be a few kids between 2-5.
