@lamariniere: We also had Ugg-like (Bear Paw) booties last winter for K. Super easy to put on. She never crawled with them on, but they didn't fall off while wearing sitting or when she started walking.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: I actually went into a kids shoe store last night and they had Stonz. They were ginormous on my DD though.

@MrsKoala: we loved our padraigs last year! They were a gift from my cousin, and I want some for myself!

We got some Stonz boots from a friend, but I think they will be too small for LO. On the lookout for new boots!

@lamariniere: thanks for posting this because I've been wondering the same. C is definitely walking now but she still falls and trips often enough that I don't want to put her in anything too stiff. Gonna check out all these recommendations.

I will say we had a hand me down pair of robeez boots ("shoes" style not soft sole) last year, before she was walking, and they were so so cute.

@birdofafeather: @Pirouette: @catomd00: @Mrs. Blue: @PurplePeony: I'll have a look at the Robeez. I didn't know they made winter shoes!

@.twist.: I had never heard of Bogs. Not sure if I can get them here, but they look really cool!

@MrsKoala: I had never heard of these either, they are super sweet looking.

@LuLu Mom: I've seen Ugg like boots around, but I wasn't sure how easy they would be for a new walker. Good to know that your daughter didn't have any problems with them.

@Pirouette: I had the same issue and just got a pair of cheap Ugg-look boots from Old Navy. They were like $10 on sale, I think $12.99 regular price. She has worn them at the playground and they worked fine, though I wouldn't want her walking around a lot in them. Once she's actually walking outside, we'll get something sturdier like Robeez (I don't want to spend the $$ for her just to outgrow them before she even uses them).

We LOVED the Robeez booties. Let me see if I can find a link. They were awesome before they started walking and as new walkers because they're soft soled.

@Pirouette: Oh sorry, I misread, I thought she wasn't walking yet! Honestly, he hasn't really gotten the chance to use them in the snow yet because we usually carry him in and out of the daycare (it's faster!).

My LO turned 1 in October (last year) and I just bought her fake Ugg-looking boots from Payless. I ended up buying them in 3 colors, she loved them, she could easily maneuver in them, and they were very warm (and cheap!)

@.twist.: yea, she's walking, and she loves to walk around outside, but maybe i just won't let her ;) she's only been walking on her own for a few weeks so i don't know if i'm comfortable letting her walk in shoes that don't fit well. a growth spurt sounds like the best solution! :silly:

@Pirouette: Yea, we got him a 4. They are for 6-12 months and they still have a little room for his feet to grow. I imagine I'll have to buy him another pair before the end of the season, but our daycare requires winter boots for outside play, so what was I to do? We needed something!

I think if she's not walking, a 4 would be ok, just because she won't be tripping over her own feet yet. Maybe she'll go through a bit of a growth spurt too. I know L walks just fine in them even though there's a little room at the toe.

@.twist.: this is exactly the problem we were having when we looked! LO has small feet (and she's not even 11 months) so the options are limited and everything is soft soled. what size did you get him? a 4? her other shoes are a 3, but bogs look like they start at 4. i was looking online and it looks like stride rite has some boots that come smaller, but yikes! the prices!

My LO is 16 months, walks everywhere, but has really tiny feet. (6-12 months). I wanted something that had grip and form and for the most part, I could only find soft soled boots!

I ended up having to spend a little more than I wanted to, but my choices were limited. We ended up getting him some BOGS and they are so stinkin' cute and really easy to slip on and have grip and are great for walkers (or non-walkers).

These are the ones we got him: http://www.bogsfootwear.ca/shop/style/71446-009.html

We got LO some stride rite shoes when she started walking a few weeks ago, and we asked about boots and the lady in the store said most of the boots (especially uggs) weren't great for early walkers. so we figured we'd stick with stride rites for now and then get her robeez boots for when she's out in the cold - i don't expect her to actually walk outside much this winter, so i figured sneakers for inside were more important. if they are just for keeping her feet warm outside, i'd go with robeez! and OMG ONE!!!!! so crazy!! :)

What kind of booties do you have or are you buying for your older baby? My daughter is almost 1 (eeps!) but not quite walking yet. I'm looking for something that is easy to put on and stays on, keeps her feet warm and that she could walk in (outside) when she's finally able to. She will probably mostly wear them while in the Ergo or the stroller though.
