HAHA - I totally clicked on this link, thinking that it was going to be about some cute Fall boots (even though it said winter). I guess I forget that it actually gets cold enough in other parts of the county for people to need snow boots... womp womp

Ugg Adirondacks are my absolute favorite winter boots. They are waterproof on the bottom and so so warm (but they do have suede on the uppers, so I don't wear them while shoveling). I have had mine for 3 winters and they are still going strong. I have a 1.5 mile each way walking commute so I am impressed that they have held up.

I have Sorels as well (Tivoli high), which I use for shoveling, but they do not keep my toes warm enough to wear for long periods of time.

I also have a pair of Keen boots with phenomenal traction - it's completely waterproof, and although they're not heavily insulated they have a thick membrane inside that keeps my feet surprisingly warm. They were within that price range, but I've had them for about 5 years and they still look brand new!

I snagged a pair of Crocs winter boots on sale during the summer. I was looking for a lightweight boot with good traction since I do a lot of walking. They're supposed to be waterproof and seem cozy enough, but I wish the sole was more flexible.

http://www.crocs.com/p/crocs-womens-allcast-luxe-duck-boot/12812.html?cgid=boots&cid=26H#start=4

DD has a pair of Sorels this winter (that's if her feet doesn't grow any bigger  ).

@regberadaisy: I live in the mid-south (Kentucky), so we don't usually get a ton of snow. We had two big snowstorms last year where we got 11" of snow, but other than that, we didn't have any snow beyond a dusting. Like I said above though, I never know if I'm going to be walking in a shoveled area or not because it's not done by the city, it's up to the individual home/business owner.

@Mamaof2: I'm not sure yet...I did the shoveling last year, I didn't think about these being too short. My city is pretty weird, some parts of the sidewalk could be shoveled and others aren't (I distinctly remember having to jump over piles of snow because some businesses didn't shovel) because shoveling is up to the home/business owner, not the city.

It'll do fine in a Seattle rain but you probably can't repeatedly step in snow slush and expect your feet to be dry. ;)

My north face boots have held up and are super warm...they are water resistant though which I don't think is the same as water proof? But I've had them for 6 years. I think they were around $120 on sale.

I have these in black and took them up to Whistler, Canada for a snowboarding trip then to Seattle, WA. Trekked through tons of water and snow and they've held up well! They're waterproof and keep my feet very warm. I like they're a bit taller so if I step in deeper snow, I'm not worried about getting my pants wet.

Depends on your use. I love in Upstate NY where we get subzero wind chills and snows from October till march. I need to be able to walk through un shoveled sidewalks.
Look goes completely out the window for me and all I care are if the boot is insulated, weather/water/winter proof. A lot of boots touted as "winter" boots are NOT water proof!!!!

Definitely something at least mid calf, shearling insulated and waterproof. I have a pair of UGGs (not the classics, those are only for looks) that have lasted me four winters and still going. I buy Sorel for my daughter. Again they're not all waterproof. Check 6pm.com
The ones you linked would not work for me. Snow would get in where the laces are and from up top.

@avivoca: where are you planning on wearing them? Shoveled areas only? Playing in snow with your LO?

You might need something taller - although those are super cute!

I have these
http://www.amazon.com/Crocs-Womens-Kosmo-Black-Charcoal/dp/B004LL6XW8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1441132348&sr=8-8&keywords=croc+snow+boots

DH laughs at me but they keep my feet super warm and are great for playing in the deep in snow with the kids!

Apparently, the Old Farmer's Almanac winter predictions are out for the next year, and it's not looking pretty for the Ohio Valley. I cannot spend another snowy year traipsing about in rubber boots that are mens size 11 with no insulation because stupid me didn't buy snowboots. What are some of your favorite boots/brands? My budget is less than $150.

So far, I like these: http://www.zappos.com/columbia-minx-shorty-omni-heat-print-purple-dahlia-wet-sand, but I haven't bought snowboots ever....my last pair was in 1997 when I was 12.

Go!
