It's the second year I've bought TrekSta winter high-top sneakers for DD - they're warm, waterproof, cofmy, and have a non-slip sole for icy days. It's not her first pair of winter sneakers, but I'm now convinced she will never need an actual pair of snow boots since these are a million times better.

Eta: They're technically hiking boots.

@gotkimchi: yep we had lots of snow still in May. And it snowed in June. And in some parts of the state, July. Much to my dismay 😂😑😑 Friggin winter.

I was impressed with the cat and jack ones, DS never once complained about cold toes!

@snarkybiochemist: hahah I totally get that. We don't usually get "real snow" until January here either but I have totally tried to cram them into last year's boots or big brother's boots to make due until I can get this year's!

@psw27: We don't usually get snow here until then but if I get desperate then I will be like all the other moms panic shopping at target b/c it snowed in October and my kid totally needs boots.

Awesome totally cool with Target brand, glad to hear that so many people like them and their kids like them too. @psw27: I will hold out and keep looking for sales over the next few months, thanks for the tip

I also do the Target boots and I wait until early November (I think) when they do the buy one get one sale for winter gear. I usually stock up (one for daycare, one for home) on snow pants, boots and mittens for each kid.

Another vote for Target boots! At that age they likely won’t have a ton of wear and tear.

I always just get a pair that fit at a consignment sale. I prefer ones that have a velcro closure that opens up the top of the boot a bit, but it's not a necessity. They never play outside for long, and both kids have had to put on their own boots for daycare/school and managed just fine. Since they don't get much use and will be outgrown at the end of the season, I never plan to drop money on a brand name pair.

@bees_knees: I was going to say, I thought it was the outlier here but I just buy target boots for the kids. We have long ass cold winters here (we got snow in May  ) and the kids r fine

I was impressed with the Cat & Jack bog-ish type boots we got from Target last winter! Better price point, and not quite as clunky (or warm, probably) as actual Bogs. I figure if it’s super super cold, he’s not going to be outside that long anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️

ETA: we live in Montana, and it gets really freakin cold here with tons of snow.

Definitely check your local resale sites and consignment stores! Winter boots in the mid-Atlantic don't take much abuse, so I have always found brand-name winter boots with minimal wear for around $10. Last winter, LO had a pair similar to these that she could get on and off independently (at 3).

We have used the classic bog boots for DD for the past three winters, and we will be purchasing again for her this year. She can easily walk, run, and play in them. She can put them on by herself which is great. They are pricey but we normally find them half off either at nordstrom rack or 6pm.com

I know its August but I am starting to think about winter and the gear that comes with it. E will be 2 this November and will be doing more walking outside unlike last year, she also will be going outside to play at daycare. I don't know how much they play if snow is on the ground but I think there is a chance. I am looking for a reasonably priced easy to walk in boot. It doesn't need to be rated for extreme temperatures since we are in PA and won't be spending too much time outside if its below freezing. Suggestions?
