We got the three-in-one l.l.Bean and a puffer from Columbia. The 3 in 1's fleece is substantial! The inner layer was perfect for day to day, it was think enough to be safe in the car seat but still relatively warm. I bought one for my son a few years ago and he was able to wear it for 2 winters. Got another one on sale recently for this winter. Just got literally the exact same one in a bigger size and broke it out this morning.
