@erinbaderin: I second Gap coats. They have all lasted through my two boys. 40%off sales are pretty common.

We live in northern New York and my son goes to an outdoor preschool. We got the three-in-one l.l.Bean and a puffer from Columbia. The 3 in 1's fleece is substantial! Of course my son won't wear it because he's such a turd about wearing new clothes 😆😆 but eventually he will.

[attach=5254/19/pzkiom.300x600.Screenshot_20191018-073032.png]

It goes on sale a lot. It can get you through every cold season in NJ.

@meadow: primary.com! I got the light puffer coat and matching vest and hoodie for my son (PreK). Love them and much cheaper than say north face.

When DD was little we really liked the cat and jack 3 in 1 coats. The inner layer was perfect for day to day, it was think enough to be safe in the car seat but still relatively warm. The outer layer was perfect if we were going to be outside more, and layering both was wonderful when it was really cold.

Another vote for the Gap Cold Control Puffer. I bought one for my son a few years ago and he was able to wear it for 2 winters. Got another one on sale recently for this winter. We live in the South but visit family up north and enjoy outdoor activities in the snow and I just add another layer if needed.

We're in the NE; I've liked the Gap thin puffers. When it's super cold I just add fleece under. I've also had Columbia that was good! I am all over the place as I try to scout out sales during the summer!

I just got this down puffer from Gap that I LOVE! I'm not even a huge Mickey/Disney fan, but this one is subtle and super cute to me. https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=473871002&pcid=999#pdp-page-content

@meadow: Also in NJ :) I got my son's coat from Zara for $30 in the fall of 2017 and somehow it lasted (and truly looked good) for two winters! Just got literally the exact same one in a bigger size and broke it out this morning. They also make down versions that are like $50-60, I think ours is just lined with poly stuffing, I know like a Patagonia level coat would be warmer, but it was perfectly sufficient.

I like the LL Bean ones too! My mom said Primary just came out with a lined jacket as well which would probably be a good fit for NJ (I think that’s what my sister is getting this year and she’s in NJ).

We've bought ours from the Gap for the past few years - they're pretty cute, warm enough for Canadian winters, and can usually be found at least 40% off if you watch for sales.

I love the LLBean kids’ coats - they are the least bulky of the ones I’ve looked at while still being quite warm. They are a bit pricier but run big and will probably last you two winters at least.

Anyone find any good winter coats for toddlers this year?

I usually buy from carters....but I'm not loving the boy designs this year --- except for the one I ordered earlier this week then they cancelled the order on me (I guess maybe it was a last year design that they ran out of???)

I'm looking on different websites but not super in love with anything.

We play outside in the snow (NJ weather) and general cold....but don't go skiing or anything.
