And for hats, with young kids, make sure you get one that snaps or ties under the chin so they can't yank it off. For mittens, a lot of the one piece suits with younger babies have mittens clipped in. With older kids, I just let them pick out their own mittens so they actually keep them on.

I absolutely loved DDs LL Bean gear last year. It was reasonably priced and very good quality. We live in Canada and our winters get COLD. I love that her snow suit has "grow cuffs" that I can let out in the arms and legs to get 2 winters use out of it

My two have had Gap down coats, which are waterproof and warm. I like Sorel boots as they are warm and waterproof.

For babies that aren't really walking, I think the Gap's heavyweight snowsuit works just fine. It usually goes on sale just after Christmas if you're looking to size up. Last year we bought MEC's lighterweight 2 piece for our toddler and it wasn't warm or dry enough. This year I am going to get a Columbia jacket and bib snowpants because we spend a lot of time outside and it gets really cold here so it's worthwhile. For boots, the best true snowboot is Sorel, in my experience. We also have Bogs boots for the shoulder seasons, but they aren't great for deep snow. With a younger child or one that isn't really walking, the Stonz slipcover boots are perfect! You can put a fleecy boot underneath for warmth when it's cold, and then put the Stonz on top to waterproof and add extra warmth.

Hello bees,

Can anyone recommend good brands for snowsuits, winter coats, and hats/mittens? Or share brands you were not thrilled with? We re in south east pa so our winters do get cold and snowy. I know all about not wearing a winter coat in thr infant seat so we have the 'car sear coat'. I don't know what it's really called. Thanks bees!
