I will say it seemed odd to me when his O2 was at 91. It just seemed so low! I’m praying he’s on the mend. He’s still somewhat congested but must have had 8+ poopy diapers yesterday that were just full of mucus. :bummed: I might call on Monday for a follow up but I do feel like he’s getting better. Most of that doesn’t make sense for a little baby. Babies can’t get sinus infections (they don’t have formed sinuses at that age) and you should never treat “just in case” for something, particularly in someone so little! A steroid shot is also not standard of care for a cough. The antibiotic was rx’ed on Tuesday because she was concerned he might get an ear or sinus infection because he was so congested from the RSV. We went back for our follow up Wednesday when it was discovered in fact he did have an ear infection so he had the rocephin shot then. Now I’m wondering if she forgot she rx’ed the amoxicillin?? I feel for you. My DD had crazy ear infections, too many to count from 3 months-9 months old. Augmentin antibiotic always destroyed her belly and she had diarrhea. Most oral antibiotics were rough on her but Rocephin was never a problem. I started giving her Rainbow Light powdered vitamins when she was tiny, they have probiotics in them and help restore some balance to the belly. The ped also told me I could do half a packet of Culturelle for Kids in her bottles at that age.</p> <p>Good luck!</p> <p>ETA: I totally didn't answer your question at all...just gave unsolicited advice. I would call the doctor for peace of mind :) In my experience, taking steroids for asthma--they turn me into the Energizer bunny and I can't rest! Are you still giving the oral antibiotics? I wonder if they'll let you quit them since the Rocephin was given. Keep your Ped posted on symptoms and changes from the norm to help make sure nothing gets missed. I am so sorry you are dealing with this! Not to be an alarmist, but with babies that young, it doesn't take long for a situation to go from treatable at the Ped to needing to go to the ER (like, say, for oxygen saturation levels, dehydration, etc.). My son had RSV at 4 months last December, and it was so awful and scary. (He is just getting over it again now, actually.) My oldest had RSV at 8 weeks old and they made us come in for daily monitoring. When he showed fever, they admitted him to the hospital for observation. You can never be too careful when they are that young. I would feel better touching base with the doctor’s office and letting them know his symptoms. I agree with above, i would probably call the nurse line to ask about any suggestions for fighting diarrhea and also asking about how to watch for dehydration with it.<br /> My second has breathing issues and i really hate all the steroids. It’s been an up and down of horrible coughing, fever and congestion. His doctor is out of town so we’ve been seeing an NP at the office. First, when I took him they gave him a steroid shot and breathing treatment because he was coughing so hard. Then, when I took him for a follow up the next day, she said he had a massive ear infection so we were sent home with antibiotics and they gave him a shot of Rocephin. Now he has horrible diarrhea (like after every feed) and is really wound up! It’s almoat like a switch has flipped in him. Normally he’s a very sleepy baby and it took almost 2 hours to get him to bed last night AND he’s been up since 315 (two major episodes of diarrhea) and is just as awake as can be. :bummed: </p> <p>Should I call back in the morning about the diarrhea and restlessness or just write it off? I feel like his little body has been through so much in the last week already. I’m so exhausted and my two other kids both have sinus infections! </p>
