So frustrated...my library only does story time during the week...but I need to go explore it in person and see if it's domewhere we could visit on the weekends!

Do you have a Barnes and noble nearby? They do story time, and often have kids play train tables, etc. Also check any local toy stores. One in my neighborhood does story time twice a week, also, and they have a great train table as well. Obviously not a full day activity, or anything, but if you just need to get out of the house for a bit :)

We do our local children's museum a lot, but it's really close (like I walk the mile there). Another vote for library story times, and it's worth checking the schedule for nearby libraries too. There is a free music class at a local community center a few times a month, but if they stopped doing the free one I would consider paying for it since she loves it so much (Little Groove). And play dates at friends houses.

But really I think I will need to expand this winter since she is much more active now and I'll have a new baby come December.

As for the swimming- we just did a set of lessons, with the idea that it would be special daddy daughter time. Fail on that- she is in a major mommy phase and after 3 lessons of her crying for most of them, I tried taking her in the pool the next time and she did so much better. So, my big pregnant self is doing the rest of them then i think we will hold off on them.

We do have a children's museum close by so I"m going to look into a membership. Otherwise, I plan on spending a lot of time at our library. Ours has a children's area that has a train table, a lego table, tons of puzzles, a grocery store booth with tons of play food, a workbench, and obviously books! DS is almost 3 and loves it there.

I kept DS in most of last winter because he was a preemie and flu season was terrible, but this year I'm planning on doing more with him! We already go to a lapsit story time at the library, and sometimes we go to the mall and play on the indoor play stuff there. Chuck E Cheese is always a good option too!

@Mrs. Pen: good call on the library...I'm looking into that now!!!

I refuse to sign her up for swim classes without DH fully committing to taking her...they are expensive and I'll be massively pregnant this winter and am just not signing up for it myself!

there is an indoor play park here too, they offer either annual memberships or discounts thought! So it's not too expensive.
J still plays outside a lot though, even in the winter. He loves the cold and the snow.

Have you checked any open gym times? Our community center/early education center does Saturday morning open gym times for $2, as well as the local YMCA (free with membership). We have a YMCA membership, so swimming and having him go to kidstuff while we work out is a frequent activity- and he loves it there.
Similarly, the early childhood education center does music classes or toddler/preschool classes for a decent price on weekends or weeknights.
Oh - and the library. We love it there. We also found another library 20 minutes away that has a play space! Maybe check out neighboring city's libraries to see what they have? Some are really cool these days!
Are there any coffee shops/malls that have playspaces? We don't have any here, but I've heard it's becoming more commonplace!

With winter approaching I need to update my indoor activities repertoire!

Summer was easy peasy...between parks and our $75 membership to the zoo we were set!

Now with winter I feel I need to expand my list. There is an aquarium nearby but I have heard mixed reviews on - plus its not cheap! We have two play spaces (ones more imaginative play and one is more active play) but both are $8-10 per day.

I know stores like Michaels and HomeDepot have kids activities - but I think my DD is a bit young (2) for those yet.

Our local hands on museum is 1.25 hrs away unfortunately!!! :(

What are your go-tos?
