@bpcmarj: Thanks for the info about coconut oil, my LO has super sensitive & dry skin so I am always taking notes on things to try. Is there a brand that you like?

Update: Pretty sure the angry red was from the diaper cream reacting to the wipe. It happened once before when she was a few months old she screamed like I had never heard. I stopped using the cream and went back to coconut oil and now things are clearing and her wipes aren't stinging anymore. I am throwing away the burts bees diaper cream.

Do you have any extra flannel receiving blankets? You can cut those up into squares and use them as wipes. We also did Viva paper towels in water when DS was a tiny baby.

Bordereaux's Butt Paste, the green tube, works very well for DS when he has diaper rash.

@bpcmarj: Sorry to hear about the diaper rash. My baby girl just got over a really stubborn one and it took a lot of trial and error. I tried a total of 4 different diaper rash creams and ointments but we finally found a routine that works for us. She seems to work with the A&D ointment. The pampers wipe works for us but when the rash first appeared, I rinsed the wipes in lukewarm water and would pat her diaper area dry with Kleenex tissue. I had major mommy guilt so I ordered honest diapers and it really did help her rash clear up! Now we use honest diapers as overnights because she sleeps longer during the night. I was sold once her diaper rash cleared up the week I tried the honest diapers. We were gifted with so many other diapers and I don't want to be wasteful so we are still using others during the day.

Some kind of soft cloth (like maybe an old burp cloth) with just water. Are you sure it isn't a yeast rash? We dealt with one of those and it took us ages to finally admit that the rash wasn't going away and we needed to go see the doctor. Of course he immediately ID-ed the rash and sent us to get a prescription. Doh!

The only thing that stopped M from getting diaper rashes was getting rid of disposable wipes. We bought cloth wipes (I tried cutting up receiving blankets but they kept unraveling and I'm too lazy to hem them) and use them with a spray bottle of water. For poops or travel i use viva paper towels.

Lots of naked time on a towel until it clears up!

I always wash his bum in the sink or tub when it's gets bad. Then pat dry or use a hair dryer to make sure the skin is dry. I usually apply baby powder to absorb any leftover moisture. Then lots of diaper cream. If its really bad, you can.eave her diaperless when you are home. We have wood floors so the mess is easy to clean

We always use wet paper towels to wipe his bum. Doing that, combined with using Triple paste, he hasn't had a diaper rash in a month or so! You don't have to use viva, any wet paper towel is soft enough, IMO.

We spray a cloth wipe (or cut up receiving blanket or baby washcloth) with water and use that. If it's a particularly messy poop, we use sensitive wipes but I always finish with a cloth and water.

@bpcmarj: when you're at home, can you wash your LOs bum off in the sink? That's what I've done in the past - sort of like a baby bidet :) I gently blot dry with a soft cloth afterwards. I aim for lukewarm water.

Looks like lots of naked time in her future. Hope she feels better soon.

We usually use wet baby washcloths but when out will use the 7th generation free and clear wipes. We tried the Pampers "sensitive" ones to save money but they give her rash so I guess this one is ultra sensitive.

@Pink Champagne: good idea on the receiving blanket! :) I don't think it's yeast because it's not raw patches, just gets bright red after I use the wipe on it and has almost like tiny pin sized blood spots. My skin is really sensitive and I think hers just is, too. Looks like she'll be running free in the kitchen tomorrow, since every room but the bathroom has carpet!

Do you have maybe an extra receiving blanket you can cut up to make some cloth wipes? Those might be gentler than paper towels.
Poor baby :( we use Target brand sensitive wipes (my child will get a diaper rash if you look at him funny) and CJ's BUTTer as a barrier cream and it keeps almost all rashes away.

Also, if the rash has raw patches it could be yeast. :(

ETA: be sure to give her lots and lots of diaper free time! Air is the best thing for clearing up rashes. We just put a towel down to catch the pee.

Miss P has her second ever diaper rash that we are battling. It had cleared up using coconut oil, but then I switched to birts bees diaper cream and it came back with a vengance. Her wipes are making it redder and more angry, so I am going to stop using them until she clears up, but I am unsure of what to use in place. Paper towel (maybe viva brand since they are really soft and thick) and water? I am open to suggestions since she's now at the stage where her bum is so raw that the wipe (or alchohol in it) is making her bleed:(
