@dolphin: we tried that thing on my 1.5 year old recently and he couldn't balance with it anyway. :/ He did better with the wings even though they are technically for 3 year olds. (I was standing next to him the entire time and it was a kiddie pool section.) I haven't found anything great for that age but I think one of those vests that goes all the way around would be more ideal. You just have to be careful because even with those they can tip over and get stuck. My little brother did.

@2littlepumpkins: @reyorra: @schubr03: thanks ladies! I just ordered a puddle jumper for my 4 year old. I didn't get one for my 2 year old since it said for 30lbs and up but now I think I should get one for her too!

@dolphin: I think that's plenty of time! My 1.5 y.o. wore a floaty with water wings and a floater across the chest. Enjoy! Have s great time!

@dolphin: We haven't been to Kalahari in Wisconsin, but we go every year to the one in Ohio. The kids can wear puddle jumpers in the water if you have your own, or they have life jackets there, but all kids under a certain height need to wear a coast-guard approved floatation device. When we've stayed, we've done one night stays with two days in the waterpark, but we also usually go in the winter, when inside is the only option, we've never done their outdoor park. Two nights with three days is probably enough at those ages, especially if they aren't going to do the big rides with long lines.

I don't know about the kalahari but I think that time frame is good for Wisconsin Dells! So much fun! And as for swimming we always use those one piece that goes across the front and around the arms. Definitely better than just the arms, those are useless.

@schubr03: ok so I just booked Kalahari! How many nights did you stay? We were thinking 2 nights/3 days and now wondering if we should stay longer. Also, did your LO's wear floaties or anything in the waterpark?

@schubr03: I just saw a video on YouTube and you weren't kidding about Kalahari being huge! Wow! I'm currently pregnant too so DH will need to do the all the big family slides, although I have a feeling my kids will be too scared to go on them. They would be happy playing in the kiddie area. I'll look into Great Wolf Lodge too. Thanks for the recommendations!

I've always stayed at Wilderness. I find that the rooms are a lot cheaper, and there's still so many watermark options. The resort is huge, so in order to get to ablot of the water parks they have shuttles which is really nice!

@dolphin: I would say it is probably my favorite just because of the size. It's HUGE there. There are so many different options. There will be options for your older one and then Options for your younger child. My DD is a little daredevil. So she LOVED all of the slides. She was able to go down a couple of the big family ones with my hubby (I am currently pregnant, so couldn't go). The nice thing about Kalahari is there is the huge indoor water park, the outdoor water park, and the indoor amusement park/arcade. So there are a lot of options. I would say a close second is Great Wolf Lodge.

@schubr03: Ah I looked into the Kalahari but wasn't sure if it was geared towards bigger kids because the water slides looks huge! Great to know your LO loved it!! We're thinking of just doing 2 night/3 days over July 4th weekend. I'm also worried about how crowded it's going to be but that's my daughter's birthday weekend so we wanted to do something extra fun and special. And I've never been! Would you say out of all the resorts Kalahari is your fave?

We went to Kalahari in January with a 1.5 year old and she LOVED it! Every piece of it! I have stayed at Kalahari, Wilderness, Great Wolf Lodge, and quite a few other resorts as we used to go every summer. Depends on price and if you want to do other things that weekend, as well. I would say if you aren't doing other things, one of the big resorts are nice because EVERYTHING is right there, but you will pay more. If you are looking to do any other water parks/amusement parks during the summer, I would stay at a cheaper hotel and spend the money on the tickets. Let me know if you have more questions!
