(I was standing next to him the entire time and it was a kiddie pool section.) I haven't found anything great for that age but I think one of those vests that goes all the way around would be more ideal. You just have to be careful because even with those they can tip over and get stuck. The kids can wear puddle jumpers in the water if you have your own, or they have life jackets there, but all kids under a certain height need to wear a coast-guard approved floatation device. When we've stayed, we've done one night stays with two days in the waterpark, but we also usually go in the winter, when inside is the only option, we've never done their outdoor park. So much fun! And as for swimming we always use those one piece that goes across the front and around the arms. I find that the rooms are a lot cheaper, and there's still so many watermark options. It's HUGE there. There are so many different options. There will be options for your older one and then Options for your younger child. My DD is a little daredevil. So she LOVED all of the slides. She was able to go down a couple of the big family ones with my hubby (I am currently pregnant, so couldn't go). The nice thing about Kalahari is there is the huge indoor water park, the outdoor water park, and the indoor amusement park/arcade. So there are a lot of options. I'm also worried about how crowded it's going to be but that's my daughter's birthday weekend so we wanted to do something extra fun and special. And I've never been! Every piece of it! I have stayed at Kalahari, Wilderness, Great Wolf Lodge, and quite a few other resorts as we used to go every summer. Depends on price and if you want to do other things that weekend, as well. I would say if you aren't doing other things, one of the big resorts are nice because EVERYTHING is right there, but you will pay more. If you are looking to do any other water parks/amusement parks during the summer, I would stay at a cheaper hotel and spend the money on the tickets.
