I totally agree with the phase comment above. I think that I made short term things a really big deal under the guise of "start as you mean to go on" which is good in theory but doesn't recognize how much things change organically with little ones.

I also spent a lot of time sweating sleep but we ended up waiting her out and we now have a lo who falls asleep by herself and stays in her room and sleeps through the night, so I would go back in time and tell myself to chill out a little!

Being consistent - from discipline to what they eat to using your manners - etc

Picking your battles - I use to fight about everything with #1 and it would back fire every time - now if its not life threatening (e.g.: he wants to only wear his fleece jacket when its 32 degrees outside) then do it!

I didn't really get that everything is a phase.
Problems seemed so difficult! Where if we just waited it out, generally things worked out ok.

I also try to enjoy the "sweet years" more. There's a ticking clock on the sweetness (usually), and I'm really enjoying the sweet moments with our second child!

K, I'll try and bump this
I read this article from another blog and thought it was very interesting. The advice to 'make firm, loving discipline a top priority' was very interesting to me. How do I start that with a terrible two'er!

Dear wise ones,
If you're beyond the toddler infant days, what early motherhood/ fatherhood changes would you have made if you could rewind? Or what do you wish you would have adjusted earlier? Encourage those of us in the hair pulling stages...so we survive!
