@brownie: Thanks! I wish I could go home and nurse. My husband is going to bring her to work one day this week so that will be nice. I'm working 4 days a week until September, so having Friday off has been awesome.

@regberadaisy: I hear you! I've seen quite a few jobs that aren't in my field that I'd be willing to take. Part-time jobs are rare in my field but I've seen 2 and I applied! I am also thinking about talking to HR eventually if nothing pans out. I would accept a lower salary if I could work 4 days a week. I am on a 4-day work week until September and having that extra day has been a godsend.

@mrsjazz: I've been back at work since mid June and M has been in daycare since mid July. It's definitely still hard to say good bye in the mornings. I'm SO happy to see her in the evenings and it makes me so sad that by 6 she's pretty much ready for bath time then off to bed.

I would say it's definitely gotten easier for me since the beginning. But, it's still hard. The other day I saw a part time work from home position open up that's not my field at all. If I thought I had a chance I would have applied....
At this point I think if I can find a flex work from home job with health insurance even if it's not my field I'm willing to put my career on hold.

I will tell you, that things didn't get better until I got a new job. That was at 9 months old.

Do you have the opportunity to go and nurse her at lunch? I love my lunch break when I can go and just watch him play and nurse him. Even when we stop nursing I will probably go visit him.

You are doing a great job momma. Keep up the good work.

@pointybird: Thanks! I am still nursing, I love those moments with her. I pump at work. But it's a good idea to talk to my doctor.

I am stalking job websites right now!

Hugs for you!! It's so hard leaving your baby, even in the best circumstances.

I have been back at work since mid April and it seems to ebb and flow. Sometimes I'm good for a week and then sometimes I cry when I'm 5 minutes late to pick her up because that's 5 minutes I'm not with her. I definitely think it helps that I like my job. If I hated being here, I would have a much harder time handling leaving my LO. Will your job improve? Can you look for something that will make you happier?

Also, Idk if you are still nursing/pumping, but I have heard that sometimes breastfeeding can hold off postpartum depression. If you are nursing or pumping less, maybe you are experiencing some delayed PPD? If you have a history of depression, it might be worth mentioning it to your doctor.

I've been back at work since the beginning of July. My first couple of days back weren't that bad. Everyone told me it would start getting easier to leave baby girl and be back at work, but it's actually getting worse. Mondays are really hard for me now and I was late this morning on purpose because I didn't want to leave her. I feel like I might be trying to sabotage myself (get fired/laid off) so that I can be home with her.

Part of it is probably because my job is awful right now...maybe if I was working/doing something I like things wouldn't be getting harder.

I'm just worried I will have some kind of breakdown and become depressed (I have dealt with depression in the past) come September (husband is back at work and nanny starts) especially because LO is at the point where she doesn't like strangers (our friends) picking her up.

Ugh.

If you work out of your home, when did it get easier to leave your LO?
