I wouldn't do it because LO is a disaster if we miss bedtime!
I run into the same problems bc LO goes to bed at 6/630 :s so I try and do weekend classes (for eg right now I have us in swimming in Sarurdays and next up is music classes on Sunday's :)

Last summer when my son was 6-9 months old I tried doing stiller strides classes on Saturdays. I really liked them but they always seem to interfere with napping. I just found it really hard to schedule anything with him for the first year or so. The only thing that was regular was bedtime and that was 6:30 pm! So we really couldn't do anything. I would like to do stuff like that but for us it's just added pressure in our busy lives.

I didn't worry much about classes when LO was younger because our nanny took her to drop-ins. Do you have a place where you could do an occasional drop-in on the weekends?

We do a dance class on Saturday mornings. We roll out of bed and walk to class basically. I would rather sleep in but she needed more time with other kiddies as we lead up to preschool.

I don't think there's much point in classes at 8 months, but that's just me.

I would do it if he is flexible with routine changes. My LO is super adaptable, so usually once a week we do something that keeps her up later then usual. Our rule is generally no more than once a week though.

@DillonLion: I would be the exact same way if I were a WOHM! :P

I think it depends on a) your baby and b) how much you want to do this class.

I still haven't signed up LO for anything and she's 2.5

We only have one day a week (Saturday) where we don't have to get up and rush to be somewhere, and I'm cherishing that one day LOL

Totally agree that it depends on the baby. My LO would not have done well, but others would be fine. While at that age, they don't really care about classes, I think it's a great way to meet other moms. Maybe you could see if you could try one class and see how it goes?

@Corduroy: @Bluebonnet: @PurplePeony: @Mamasig: Thanks! I think I will pass on the class and wait till he is older and there is a class that works better for both of our schedules. LO seems to not sleep as well when he goes to bed late - maybe that will change in the future - probably not though

Would they let you try a session before committing? I know some places let you try a class for free and then maybe you could see if it will work out.

I think it depends in the baby. DS2 does not do well when we push bedtime back! Now DS1 probably would have been fine.

I WOH too and I think it sucks there aren't many options for us.

My LO was a mess at that age if anything interfered with bedtime. She didn't start being more flexible about bedtime until 13/14 months but even now, we're pretty limited in how much we can push it. If your baby is pretty chill about bedtime, you might be able to make it work but it never would have flown for us. I hear you on it being really hard to find mommy and me activities that work for WOHMs, though.

I would skip a class that late. My LO is a mess when she's overtired so pushing bedtime wouldn't be a good idea.

Are there any Saturday morning classes available? We take music class on Saturday mornings and love it. We have to adjust LO's naptime slightly, but it hasn't been an issue.

I would skip the nighttime class unless it being able to attend would be a big benefit to you (making some needed new friends). Seems like it's more stress than it is worth being at bedtime; however, I'm a big time dropper-outer. My LO still hasn't completed a session of classes at 2 years. Others may feel very differently.

My LO is 8 months old and I found a Mommy & Me class (Pilates with Baby) that meets 6:30-7:30pm once a week. 7pm is LO's bedtime but I really would like to be able to do a class with him. Would you recommend skipping this because it falls in his bedtime or going for it?
Same thing with classes that fall during his naptime - I am so excited that these classes exist but not sure if it makes sense to sign up for them when they conflict with naptime. Since I WOHM I find it rare to find a class that works with both of our schedules and is affordable.
Also not sure if classes are that important for us now or if I should wait till he is closer to 18 months. Any thoughts?
