Can you do something else productive while LO is eating breakfast? I currently eat myself and prepare pump parts and milk for LO. Also, if you have enough time, maybe you can shower after LO nurses.

I do morning routine but LO doesn't leave the house so i'm not sure our routine is helpful. LO wakes me up sometime between 6-6:45, if it's 6, i change her then we lie in bed and she crawls on me for a while and babbles. then i take a really quick shower (usually leave her in bed with sleeping DH for a few minutes) grab her and bring her to the living room to play. then around 7:15 she nurses (snack), plays a little more while i drink coffee and eat breakfast, then around 8ish eats again (meal) and goes down for her first nap around 8:30. i leave between 8:30-8:45.

I make lunch and get everything prepped the night before so all i have to do is shower and get dressed (and eat breakfast if there's time). I'm also low maintenance :)

Can you take your shower at night, so all you have to do is refresh and do your hair/make up? I realize that it may not be an option for a lot of reasons, but it can work.

I'm not solo, but at that age, I was getting up at 4:30 as well in order to get myself ready and nurse and pump in the mornings before work. I had to be at work at 7:30, so if I also got Xander up and brought him to daycare, I'd probably get to work around 8:00.

I do most mornings by myself since DH goes to the gym really early or is off to his work before DS wakes up. I'm also a night shower person!

7/730am: I wake up, get dressed, put my face on, etc.
730/8am: DS wakes up, I get him, change his clothes/dip as needed
8/830am: DS has milk/yogurt, I get lunch bag/coffee, and I either drop him off at my mom's, or my mom's over by this point and I head to work.

I arrive at work 830/9am.

@Cherrybee: totally agree! preperation is key!

I do most mornings by myself as DH is usually asleep. I shower the night before though, so that makes the morning a bit easier.

5:00am- LO wakes up and wants me to come sleep with her
6/6:30- I sneak out and start getting ready- do makeup, hair, coffee, get dressed
6:30/7- LO gets up and has milk in bed with daddy
7- get LO dressed and leave the house at 7:30 (she has breakfast at daycare)
8:45/9- arrive at work.

I'm not solo in the mornings so I won't post my schedule for you - but I will share that, for us, the key is getting everything ready the night before. My clothes, E's clothes, towels, handbag, lunches, breakfast stuff - I even put spoons of instant coffee in the cups the night before! It sounds crazy but it shaves off time at each stage of the process. Good luck.

I'm solo in the mornings and only get up at 4:30 if I need to get in a work out :)

515: up. Coffee, eat, get dressed, makeup, etc. I pack my bags the night before
6-E gets up. Usually 6am, sometimes 6:30. I change her.
Then I feed her. Banana bread, boiled eggs, bananas, yogurt, that kind of stuff.
645-get her dressed. Usually she poops so she gets another diaper.
655-we leave for daycare
730-start work

Here is our approximate schedule. It is driven by the fact that the baby has to nurse at or after 6am in order to prevent him from needing a fourth bottle while I am at work. It is tough for me to pump enough for four bottles without having to pump at home.

If the baby is still sleeping at 5:30, then my alarm goes off and I get up and shower. Then I wake him sometime between 6 and 6:30 to nurse.

If the baby wakes me up before I manage to get in the shower, then I feed him and toss him in bed with my husband while I shower.

After he eats, I write notes for the nanny (how he slept, bottle schedule for the day, etc.) and finish getting dressed.

If the baby woke up before 6, then I top him off again at 7 before leaving.

Theoretically I leave the house at 7:15 and get to work at 8, but to be honest I often leave closer to 7:45 and get to work at 8:30. Usually I run late because I spend extra time playing with him! I have a professional job and keep my own schedule, so I can afford to do this but it makes my work day more crunched.

My husband is on baby duty between when I leave and when the nanny arrives at 8am. It is my responsibility to relieve her at 6pm, and he has more flexibility about how late he can stay at work. I need to be home by 6ish anyway in order to beat the fourth bottle.

Last week my husband was on a business trip. I was able to shower before the baby a few times, and then twice I just put him in a seat on the floor of the bathroom and watched him while I showered. And I had the nanny come at 7:30 so I could still get out the door relatively early.

I do most mornings by myself as DH is still asleep. He will get up and help if I need it or am running late.

DS wakes up by 5am to nurse.
5:30 in the shower while DS plays. I keep toys in the bathroom.
5:55 diaper change and get DS dressed
6:00 breakfast for DS. I get our lunches out of the fridge and to the door at this time.
6:20 out the door.
6:40 drop off at daycare
7:20 arrive at work

The first while was hectic but our routine is pretty good now. Some days we get out of the door late but we are ok to leave 10 min late and get everywhere on time.

When I first went back to work DS didn't eat breakfast until he was at daycare, but now he is hungrier sooner so I feed him at home. Usually a banana and milk or something equally as easy for him to feed himself.

I did solo am's, showered at night, but ony had a 2 min commute, so here goes:

7am DD wakes
7:10 bottle.
7:40 brekkie (this was REALLY hard at the beginning as she was/is a slow eater and I usually walked the dog with her between bottle and brekkie when I was off, so she wasn't used to the meal so soon after bottle)
8:15 out the door.
8:20 drop off
8:30 at my desk.

Before I got too pregnant I was up at 6 and walking the dog, DH eventually took that over, he leaves for work at 7am. She was 11m when I went back, and brekkie didn't get better til 13m or so.

6:00 I wake up and shower get completely ready for the day
6:30 eat breakfast/coffee for myself pack milk and take everything to the car
6:45 wake LO up get her dressed, snack, brush teeth
7:10 out the door!
7:30 at daycare, she usually cries so I stay a while
7:50 leave daycare
7:55 at work!

I'm solo most mornings because Dh works out of town or is asleep when he is home here. He doesn't sleep well when working. I teach and this is our schedule now that she isn't nursing.

5-5:30 wake up me. Maybe workout at this time
6-6:15 lo wake up/bottle
6:30 get dressed (both of us)
6:45 make-up, pack things needed
7 pack car
7:10-7:15 leave
7:20-7:25 meet sitter at our meeting spot (right near
my school)
7:30 arrive at school.

I shower at night and get as much packed as I can the night before. I'm lucky in that I don't need to pack bottles because I can leave her stuff there.

I'm due to go back to work in two weeks after my one year maternity leave, and I'm starting to get anxious about getting us both up and out in the morning. DH either starts or ends work at 6am, so I will always be getting us ready to go solo. I start work at 8am, and have a one hour commute. I'm also still nursing morning/after work/bedtime and day care does not feed breakfast. LO is a slow eater, and naturally wakes up to nurse around 5am.

So, my thoughts on a routine is this:

4:30am - I'm up, and shower before LO wakes
5am - LO wakes up nurses and usually falls back asleep
5:30am - I start to get ready - everything except clothes on
6:00 feed LO
6:30 - dress and gather everything to walk out the door (car parked about a 10 min walk away)
6:45 - leave home
7:20 - arrive at day care - get LO signed in and settled, any necessary communication with the teacher
7:40 - leave daycare
7:50 - arrive work

Having to get up at 4:30 to get somewhere for 8am seems nuts... but I can't see how I can get my schedule tighter. Can you show me an example of how you manage in the mornings? Bonus points if you're also solo in the mornings.
