@ShootingStar: I could get away with more business casual stuff, the thing is though that I have all these great clothes that I want to wear and they're a little more on the formal side. Plus, I've noticed that my coworkers are dressing up more.

@gingerbebe: yes, I could do that, with the jewelry. I am going to get more things in silver and gold tone that I can keep in my desk.

Well if you take a page out of my husband's book he keeps multiple ties and keeps jackets that can go with black or blue in the car (i.e. a black blazer, navy sport coat, etc.). He also wears a reversible black/brown belt.

You could just keep an all purpose black cardigan or blazer in the car or office and keep jewelry in your purse. My female boss actually times her commute so that she pulls into the lot 10-15 minutes early and does her make up and finishes accessorizing in her car using the light up mirror in her sunshade.

@looch: Well my office is totally casual (tech start up) so 99% of the time I'm in jeans and a top. I don't think I even own a blazer any more.

I keep extras of all these things in my office:
- contacts
- makeup (not all of it, but the essentials - some concealer, mascara, blush, powder, lip gloss)
- a shirt
- deodorant
- some cheapy fake pearl earrings
- bobby pins
- dry shampoo
- hair brush
- Shout wipes
- lint roller
- toothbrush and toothpaste

Yes one drawer of my desk is full of makeup and personal products but desperate times call for desperate measures! After I had my first child I had one week where one day I forgot deodorant and another day I only had mascara on one eye. That's when I decided to stock up my desk.

@looch: Here's we used to do (before I had DD this month)

- I wake up and get DS and bring him to my room while I get ready. He watches the PBS app on my phone or a few minutes of a movie on our tv. I get showered and fully dressed.
- I pick out clothes for DS and take him into the bathroom. He potties and I get him dressed. (We do this 2nd because he still wears an overnight diaper and is less resistant after waking up a little. Sometimes we do this first though.
- We go downstairs and I offer him a waffle or Cheerios. He eats in his tower and I sit next to him at our peninsula and eat my breakfast.
- When he's done I wipe him up and put together his lunchbox with things from the fridge that DH prepared.
- DS feeds the dog, I grab all our stuff and we walk out the door.

Of course all of this assumes everything goes smoothly 😉. Sometimes he wants to play, or refuses to get dressed, etc.

@ShootingStar: so question, what does it look like for you in the morning? I am having a tough time, I've shortened my routine as much as possible, but the getting dressed right before we leave is throwing me for a loop and my son is much older and can dress himself...you'd think we'd be able to get dressed at the same time after breakfast, but it's not that simple. I am missing something, lol.

@ShootingStar: we let our kids wash their hands in the sink rather than wiping them down with wipes, so the process of getting them to the bathroom is where I end up messy. The 3 year old isnt as much of a struggle as the 18 month old :silly:

My kid doesn't get stuff on me. Once you're past the spit up stage, how does that happen? He eats breakfast in his tower and I wipe him up with babyganics wipes we keep on hand. Then he's not sticky and at almost 3 he's way past the drooly stage. I also dress very casually for work though, so no worries about ruining a suit or anything.

@Mrs. Lion: My jewelry is specific to my outfits, it is more on the costume/fashion side of things for necklaces, my bracelets and rings are regular stuff. I wear a beaded tassel right now, I am thinking about getting a gold one and that would be much more versatile, I think.

My LO doesn't have sticky fingers, but sometimes giving him a bottle before daycare drop off is a bad idea. I learned rather quickly to feed him then put my dress on. When he gets older I will most likely let daycare serve him breakfast (solids) in the morning.

My mom would put old dress shirts of my dad's on top of her clothes (and ours) in the morning. Everyone got dressed before breakfast and the shirts came off after handwashing/ teeth brushing. She was a big fan of bobbed hair too since she didn't have to worry about a bun or ponytail getting pulled on. A really big tshirt or bathrobe would work too!

@looch: Right now I just wear stud earrings and one ring on each hand (my wedding band on one and my mom's diamond on the other) but I would like to add some necklaces if I could get away with it haha :) I feel like maybe I will feel a little more dressed that way?

@Mrs. Lion: Yes! I have a little jewelry roll case (like the one below) that I keep in my purse for only work jewelry (i.e. relatively plain, understated, not expensive.) My 1 yo is the same way - earrings are way too irresistible!

@Mrs. Lion: do you wear the same thing everyday or do you change it up? I was thinking you could leave a few things in your car, and then take them off before you go in for the night, so they're there for the next morning?

Or keep a second set at your desk in the office...I think this would work with makeup, but the jewlery, I could see being a bit weird.

Regarding wearing the light robe over their outfits, I would burst into flames.

This morning, I was getting breakfast in a tank with my pants, put my shirt and shoes on, then got all the way to the garage and realized I forgot my blazer and had to dash back up. Not a good start, lol. I have morning anxiety, so I really need to figure something out.

Ditto on wearing a long loose cardigan over my work clothes - it's essentially acting as a bathrobe. I can throw it off after drop off. I also put my hair up in a spider clip and it doesn't get dented like if I put in a rubber band and let it down. I also pretty much only wear black pants or skirts and black or patterned tops which hides most stains and spills pretty well. And keep Shout wipes in your purse and desk.

I keep a spare work outfit and a jacket in my office, as well as pumps. I come and go in comfy shoes.

I get my girls dressed and fed first, I'm usually in panties and a bra. Today I got dressed before I should have, got something on my clothes, and had to pull dirty pants out of the hamper (we are temporarily staying with my parents and don't have all of our clothes). DH is super helpful in the mornings and doesn't have to shower until after I leave with the girls, so he tends to get dirtier.

I don't get dressed until the end... once the syrupy hands are washed and he is dressed and not sticky! Otherwise, I do my hair and makeup (I use those terms loosely, I'm super lazy) before he wakes up!

Since I commute by foot, I often commute in jeans or workout clothes and change when I get to work - which is the norm for my office, thankfully!

Both of my kids spit up all the time, so I would wait until the last possible minute to get dressed. Then, after I do get dressed, I usually throw an extra cardigan or sweater over whatever I'm wearing, which I take off after I drop the kids off (even in the summer).

Hubs helps D get dressed and teeth brushed and eats breakfast with him while I get A up and ready. I nurse her in just a diaper and I'm in my bathrobe. She's an epic first-thing-in-the-morning spitter, so that way neither of our clothes take a hit. When she's done nursing, I take her into the bathroom where I finish getting dressed, then she gets dressed. And we're pretty much out the door 10 minutes later.

I get ready before I get the boys ready. They aren't horribly messy, but I used to put a zip up sweatshirt on over whatever I was wearing prior to leaving the house in order to not get spit-up on or sticky hands all over me. Once I got in the car, the sweatshirt came off and I looked put together for the most part. I also pull my hair back in a low ponytail until I drop off the 1-year old. He tends to yank on my hair.

Pretty much the only way I manage to get out the door in the morning is... I make DH take her to daycare and I do pick up! So not a helpful answer. But really - I'm barely together as it is.
