@Ladyfingers: Yeah, the private office is key for making it all work. I don't know what I would do if I had to schedule time in another room/space. It's hard enough to keep it all going as it is! It is also nice to be able to close the door on the days where is is/was extra tough to leave my LO . . . like this morning.

@MsLipGloss: Yeah, that'll totally work. I can eat afterwards, while I work (if I end up having to pump over a lunch hour) -- but we also don't have set lunch times. So if I end up having to pump at 12, I can pump while I work, start my lunch hour at 12:30/12:45 and work out and eat easily. I don't see it being an issue. A lot will depend on when I need to pump given my production, etc. It makes things so much more flexible that I can do it in my own office while I work instead of having to take a break to do it elsewhere.

@Ladyfingers: Pumping usually takes me 25-30 mintues from start to finish, i.e., getting myself ready, pump time, and then disassembling parts and putting milk in cooler. I try to always have my parts pre-assembled so I don't have to spend time doing that at work, but it isn't always possible. I usually pump twice a day, and on occasion, three times.

ETA: We also have a fitness center here in my building, and I have fit a short workout and pumping session into a lunch *hour*, give or take a few minutes.

She's not here yet, but we've already thought about it! Two days a week (maybe 3), I will work out after work. I will be doing daycare drop off at 7:00am. One of the classes is a 4:00-5:00pm and the other days of the week they are 5:00-6:00pm. I will also work out on a Saturday or Sunday. DH will do daycare pick up at 3:00pm.

If I literally can't get anything in, I will get on the elliptical downstairs in the morning before she gets up, after she goes to bed, or plop her in the pack and play with some toys for half an hour next to me.

If I was in your situation, I'd pump a bottle for the 2-3 mornings/week that you will be out of the house.

Most of the 6am classes at my crossfit gym are full of parents, though, so I think morning is definitely an option! Just not for me (my gym is near work, not home)

I am hoping to go in the morning after feeding LO/pumping and when DH takes him/her to daycare. I'll let you know how that works out though :) I have to be at work at 7:30am so it might be a tight squeeze.

@littlek: I am... but I'm pumping at my desk while I work, throughout the day (I have my own office). Does pumping take a full hour? I figure even if I can run on the treadmill for 20 minutes it will help.

I haven't found time yet either, but I do ride my bike a few miles a day as part of my commute. And I have to say, after it biking for over 6 months, my butt is sore! I also try and go for walks and hikes on the weekend.

I'm not there yet, and my plan won't help you much -- because I'm going to use my lunchtime for that. We're fortunate enough to have a workout center at our office, so I plan on taking advantage of that perk as much as I can!

@littlek: @mamabolt: I live in Nashville so luckily spring starts early around here. I go back to work in early March and by then it should be warm enough to run outside here.

@MamaMoose: I can't wait for spring so I can try out jogging with LO! She just turned six months which I think is the minimum age they suggest, but it's dark and cold after work now so it's not happening! I'll have to start searching for a jogging stroller.

@mamabolt: when I first started going back to work I started going back to the gym and trying to fit in gym time between work and DS, it was never a good time because I'd be engorged at some point and start leaking. I couldn't pump before because it was taking 20 minutes away from my drive/workout.

@rachiecakes: I'm thinking maybe during the week I can do a combo of 30 day shred after bed time and taking her with me on runs with the bob. And then hit the gym on weekends....

Wish I could figure this out! I can't get up before LO because my boobs are too engorged in the morning so I'd be hurting if I tried to run. I either work out as soon as DH gets home in the evening if he gets home early enough and I'm not exhausted, or after LO goes to bed (again if I'm not exhausted). It's so hard!

Never!! I always think I will after she goes to bed, but I'm too tired. I'm already waking up at 5:30 as it is and she isn't sleeping through the night, so it's not a priority right now.

@mediagirl: hubs will be doing day care drop off and he'll leave around 7:30 and then I'll pick her up at 4:30. So me leaving in the morning wouldn't affect her day care start time. But it would mean one more bottle in place of a nursing session unless I went to work out really early and came home to feed her before heading back out to the office.

I was going to work out in the mornings, but LO wakes up at 6 a.m. and we leave for daycare at 6:40ish so I would need to work out at 5 a.m. and so far, I have not had the motivation to get up that early. So, I'm planning on working out after LO is asleep, so around 7:30/8 p.m. I am trying to get back on track this week, we shall see how it goes. :) I'm starting the 30 day shred.

What time do you go to work/come home from work? If I wanted to work out, I would have to do it in the evening after M goes to sleep. We leave for daycare at 6:40 and get home at 5. I refuse to leave her at daycare any longer than she has to be there. While I don't work out now, if I did, it would be in the evening. I can't imagine losing any of the precious time we have with her each night. :(

The only workout I'm able to do is a video after he's gone to bed. (Gotta say, the 30 Day Shred is kicking my butt! and I never sweat/hurt from video workouts)
I suppose I could go to the gym after he's gone to bed, too but getting me to get dressed and get out of the house at night is kind of unrealistic. I'm not that motivated most nights.

If you work outside the house when do you go to the gym/fit in a work out? I'm going back when LO will be 15 weeks and I want to keep up with exercising. I'm thinking the early morning is best if I can go before she wakes up. But then I would have to come back home and nurse her before I go to work and hubs takes her to day care and that seems inefficient. But I hate to make her stay at day care later in the afternoon when I could be with her. And lunch time is not an option for me... I'm lucky if I can take a few bites of food while continuing to work right through.
