Her school does parties at 3, so I usually can leave early to go. I can't make the 4 of July parade (each class makes tshirts) due to my work deadlines. I think it is nice they do it later in the day so the parents can go.

Friday they have a parade at 3, each class does class costumes, and then we have a class party.

I have a flexible job and try to block most of them ahead of time, so unless I have a commitment I can't move, I make it to most of them.

I work about 30 minutes from the school, I don't really get to take a traditional lunch break because I get so busy in the afternoons. Today's event was at 10:30am.
I am grateful that DH is able to make it to most of them!

@petunia354: thank you! xo :happy:

It's very hard for me to because I only get a half hour for lunch and I am heavily monitored. They are having a Halloween party on Friday that starts at 5. I will get there about 5:30 and hope that's good enough. :)

My daycare doesn't do too many events during the day, so luckily I don't miss much. They are having a Halloween parade on Friday, so I'll miss that, which is a bummer. But they do a lot of evening events, which I'm able to make it to, which is nice.

Right now while LO is in daycare, I can as long as it doesn’t conflict with a meeting or a conference call I have to be on. LO’s daycare/school is on the same campus as my work, so I can go down there easily enough when they have parent invited activities (which isn’t often). Things like winter carnival, summer party, etc they hold in the evenings.

When LO enters school-school, I won’t be able to go as she’ll be attending school ½ hour from where I work. I am lucky to have WFH flexibility and am salaried so I’m not tied to a time clock, but again, it will always depend on my schedule for the day. Makes me sad to think about, but such is life.

Luckily we can be as involved or not as we want to be. I wish I could participate more in his classroom but as a working mom it's tough! I don't think they are celebrating Halloween and we haven't had any class parties yet but I'll do my best to duck out for an hour and make it to those things. He'll have to learn though that I can't make it to everything! I think it's harder for my husband though because unfortunately in our industry it's understood that the mom will be doing the classroom/kid related stuff, not the dad.

ETA: J still looked super cute in his skeleton jammies!! It totally worked out even though it wasn't his actual costume!

We have events every friday, be it reading a book, hosting a trail walk, doing a craft, cooking, etc...so I can sign up in advance and I then block my calendar at work and attend. It comes out to about once a month, which is perfect for my current schedule.

DS doesn't have parent involved activities yet, but I'm planning to when he does. I already know a majority of my PTO will go towards the kid activities versus actual vacation time, but I'm going to be okay with that I think. Guess we'll see when the time comes! ha!

I try to make an effort to sneak out and be there. Luckily - DD is at daycare about 3 miles from my work - so its not too hard to swing. But I do have to pick and choose which ones I want to prioritize!

I don't usually :( My husband works nights and weekends, so he's the go-to parent for school activities.
Today is Halloween at preschool. I packed J's costume, treat bag and a treat for all the kids and my husband totally forgot to bring it.

I left out his skeleton PJs to go under his costume, so at least that kinda works for trick or treating :silly:
