@BlueWolverine: Or maybe she's not as worn out by me as she is by the other little kiddos entertaining her all day at the sitter's! Such a good point, though.

@looch: This doesn't help our DD yet. I think she's still too young or something, because she just gets distracted by me. Ha!

@Corduroy: So good to know that (one day) it got better for you! Thanks for sharing!

@snowjewelz: @sapphire: Who knows?! Please refer to @catlady: Baby sleep is crazy. Haha!

@snowjewelz: I agree. My LO naps like a champ at home (at least 4 hours per day) but at daycare only 1-3 30 min naps!

We had this problem. I couldn't get LO to nap reliably until 15 months. I asked her pediatrician about it and her pediatrician had the same issue with her kids. We survived. For the past year we've had consistent 2 hour naps. Like PP, the nap is an hour or two later than at daycare.

I loved it when my son was napping on the weekends, I can't tell you how many cat naps I took myself. I solved the problem of my son's bad naps by laying down with him, which eventually meant that we were not doing too many errands or fun things, but I figured if he was sleeping, he needed it.

Am I the only one with reverse problem?! I am a nap nazi so unless we have crazy plans on weekends, she naps pretty good with me! With my mom/MIL, it's a hit or miss..

At 2.5, LO almost always takes a later nap on weekends. At day care, they put her down from 12-2, but on weekends, we usually do more like 1:30-3:30 or so. Maybe she just needs more time to get sleepy after being excited about being home with you.

At that age, my LO wasn't napping regularly at home OR at daycare, so we usually just had her nap on the go in the stroller or carseat. In fact, we often planned errands or trips around when we wanted her to take a quick nap in the car. It it helps to know, things eventually settled down (maybe closer to 10 months) and she got better at sleeping on a schedule. As a toddler, she started sleeping less at daycare and then making up the time on weekends, so these days, her naps are way longer on weekends! Baby sleep is crazy.

@mfa_lady: I have to say life got easier for me once I tried to stop forcing things. There are definitely times that we get a grump baby but we go with the flow. There have been plenty of times we sit in the car waiting for one to wake up or cut dinner short because a melt down is about to occur.

My kid napped like a champ at daycare and would not nap more than 45 minutes a stretch at home unless husband or I held her. So we just held her. Somewhere around 9-10 months she stretched out to 2 naps and had no issue sleeping in the crib (though admittedly we rocked her to sleep for naps). She's now 2 and naps perfectly fine on her own. I always figured naps won't last forever so it wasn't a big deal to do whatever we needed to do for naps.

@Mamasig: We are SO fortunate (crossing all the things, knocking on all the wood) that she sleeps well at night, and I think it's time to just be grateful for that and give up on the nap schedule on the weekends. Ha! That would make things a lot easier for me. And what's the worst that can happen? We're out somewhere and she gets grumpy? At this point, that kind of seems better than not going anywhere because she should be napping but won't anyway. :)

@mfa_lady: Do what works for you! My kids aren't the best sleepers but they sure can fall asleep in a car! I only have the weekends to do errands and fun stuff with them so we're always out somewhere. A benefit is that they can sleep anywhere - it doesn't have to be at home in their crib.

@Mamasig: Making me feel MUCH better. This thread makes me realize that a lot of the real-life mamas I know stay at home (or have much more flexible work schedules than me). You guys make me feel a lot better about not keeping a super strict schedule on the weekends!

@Truth Bombs: good tip! I have, but it doesn't work. She pays way more attention to us than she does to the sitter (who puts her down in a pack and play in her living room, lol) and if we're around she wants to be all up on us and NOT in her bed or PnP. Boo!! We duplicate her nighttime routine for weekend naps and that doesn't help either.

Since being in a nanny share at 8 months our LO has almost never napped on the weekends with us, ha. When she did nap it was kind of a long process and ultimately one of us would just fall asleep with her. At age 3, she naps every day for 2 hours with her nanny and takes 0 naps on the weekends. We don't try anymore.

WOHMs--talk to me about weekend naps!

Our LO naps like a champ at her sitter's house during the week--usually two 1.5-2 hour naps daily. (She's 7 months old.) On the weekends, though, we're lucky if we get two 45-minute naps out of her. We put her in her crib and she screams and screams. If she DOES go to sleep, she always wakes after that first sleep cycle. We try to stay home at least through her first nap, before we start running errands/being out and about. Any tips for making her weekend naps consistent and not totally crappy? Would nap training just for the weekend even work?

Night sleep is not affected by her naps at this time, so we just really need help with the naps!
