You're the only person I know that has it, but I've been wondering how you've been since the diagnosis. I hope your cardiologist is able to help you get it back in control!

I see it a lot. Just get in to see your cardiologist because you may need medication or ablation. Hoping for the best!

@ashleyt: @zippylef: My 16 year old sister has this and had an ablation to remove the extra pathways last year. It's an easy outpatient procedure performed while you're actually somewhat awake (not that you remember it later). She had a pretty easy recovery and continues to be an all star basketball player. A friend also discovered her condition during pregnancy and had her pathway ablated a few months ago, with no issue. Of all heart issues, this is a pretty easy one to get rid of. Best of luck!

WPW is basically an accessory conduction path in the heart that can cause tachycardia/palpitations. I'm not sure why they didn't recommend that you have an ablation when you were first diagnosed but I'm sure that's what your doctor will tell you now. It's a procedure performed by an electrophysiologist (cardiologist who specializes in heart rhythms) where they burn the accessory pathway so that you only have normal conduction. It is a straightforward procedure that has a very high success rate. Hope this helps!

I think this is what my grandfather has but he has not had any major complications from it. I found out about it because when I was younger I told my mom about having some of those very symptoms...I was never diagnosed though, false alarm. Good luck w/ your doctor's appointment!

Does anyone have it or know someone close who has had it? I was diagnosed with it last year when I was 36 weeks pregnant. I had the symptoms pretty bad during the end of my pregnancy but the doctor's were confident my symptoms would go away after I gave birth.

They did, for a while, but I've been noticing more episodes of the tachycardia and the shortness of breath over the last couple months. I would really love to start working out but I find that every time I try, my heart-rate skyrockets. Last time (a couple days ago) I had pain in my chest, so I stopped.

So, I finally made an appointment with my doctor. I go in on Tuesday. I just wasn't sure what my options were regarding this and wanted to see if anyone had some experience with it.
