Labour is such a vulnerable time for a woman. To have a nurse seemingly bullying you is terrible. </p> <p>My heart also goes out to this pie woman. I can't imagine having someone holding me down during labour or trying to push my baby back inside! I had read reviews online for my hospital's birth centre, and my experience matched others, with once exception. A few of the people online complained that their nurses and doctors spoke mostly French and they weren't sure what was going on at all times (it's a French hospital, but they are mandated to provide care in either official language). I have no idea which they planned to give. Advertising prescription drugs has been in the news lately as drs speak up against it. </p> <p>But I dont quite understand how Drs and nurses aren't caught up on standard practices. With my second I had 2 residents and a nurse offer me sudafed even though I wanted to breastfeed exclusively. All of them were very nice about me asking about alternatives but all acted like it was brand new knowledge that it can interfere with breastfeeding. Also the lack of info given to women is a problem and of course women are going to search elsewhere. There was an abnormality on my 2nd ultrasound. When we were told that the OB just kinda laughed and said just don't google it and that was the amount of info we were given. And I just thought of course I'm going to go google and pubmed the shit out of it you f'ing condescending prick. It's a very weird atmosphere of not wanting to give women info about their births. I understand to some extent no ones going to become an OB expert in 9 months but the best experience I had was when I knew the resident personally and she talked to me like I was a rational human being. I had a choice of hospitals to deliver at, because my OBs office delivers at 3. I chose one that was closer to home that SAID they were now try to get accreditation to be a "mother baby friendly hospital". In the tour, they said everything I wanted to hear, and the actual experience was NOTHING like that.</p> <p>I wrote about it in the follow up paperwork they mailed me and YELPd it.
