Positive update! My sisters fibroids are not in her uterus lining! Looks like she won't need surgery at this point. Thank you for your stories she said they cheered her up a lot

@MrsMccarthy: It's always hard to find out information like your sister has. But at the same time, having the surgery could lead to pregnancy. I wish for the best for her. Here's another thread with some feedback about fibroids. I posted there too - I had surgery to remove a small fibroid last fall, and now I'm entering my third trimester.

I had a uterine fibroid removed via outpatient surgery in 2007. I had a ruptured ovarian cyst in 2009. I was diagnosed with PCOS and told I had a uterine fibroid during the TWW in 2012. Nonetheless, I was indeed pregnant, had a totally healthy and normal pregnancy, and no have a beautiful almost nine month old!

Just saw this article in our paper: http://www.thestar.com/life/health_wellness/2013/08/30/new_drug_fibristal_attacks_uterine_fibroid_tumours.html

No idea if its available in the US though! Hope everything works out for both of you in the best way possible.

I don't have fibroids but most of the women in my family do. My cousin struggled with pain and heavy bleeding from fibroids for a long time. She had a grapefruit-sized fibroid. I am not 100% sure but I think she had surgery because I remember her being in the hospital for a while. She had a baby at age 40. (Oh and this has nothing to do with her fibroids but she also is a breast cancer survivor and had a mastectomy). My little cousin is 5 now and about to start kindergarten.

My sister has just found out she may have significant trouble implanting a baby due to a lemon sized fibroid she has. They are checking to see if its inner or outer. She has had heavy bleeding from it for over five years now and she does have others. I have some teeny ones as well but not big enough at this point for concern. Doctors are saying she may require surgery if it is in her uterus which gives her fears of scarring and further complications. Can any of you share your stories of conceiving with uterine fibroids or surgery? I would love to point her in the direction of some good support. She is 35 and hoping to TTC this summer or fall if possible. After her wedding. Thank you.
