@wonderstruck: haha yeah I've been blaming it on teeth, sickness (he had strep throat a few weeks ago and things haven't been the same since), wonder week, standing in his crib etc.

Grrrr he's already awake, 2 hours after I put him down! Hopefully he doesn't stand up :crying:

@QBbride: Yep, you guessed right - 11AM lunch here! I'm sure it's a lot harder though when you're dealing with daycare since they have so many kid's schedules to keep in mind. I'll be going through that with my next LO since he'll be in daycare at least part time, and that is one aspect of it I'm not too excited about! But I'm glad to hear tonight was a little bit easier, I hope it keeps improving! If not, then I just start blaming everything on teething, that is my go-to

@scg00387: I know! I think he would freak out too! I know I would be pissed! I think they only wake them after 10 mins if they need something to get them through until the afternoon.

@wonderstruck: thanks a lot for your advice. Maybe that's what it is. I should speak to daycare about timing. I don't know how flexible they are but it can't be the first person going through this. Normally they eat lunch at 11:30 then nap around 12:45. I could try to push him for one nap at home and see if it makes a difference. Does your LO eat lunch before napping? Like 11am lunch? I'll try the longer awake time. He's such a wreck in the evenings!! Today he was up at 2:50pm then I tried to out him down at 7:15pm (almost 4.5 hours) but he wasn't asleep till 7:45. It was easier than the other nights though so maybe it's a start.

I think the naps are your problem too. My 15 month old started getting really difficult with sleep about a month age as well, and switching to one nap made a HUGE difference. Do you have flexibility with when he naps at daycare? If so, I'd have them put him down for that first nap later, but let it be like 2-3 hours long. If he's only up for 3.5 hours before you put him down for bed, I'm not surprised he isn't sleeping well at night - tired as he may seem, that is not a very long stretch for the typical 14 month old. Even stretching it to 4 or 4.5 hours could make a big difference. Our sleep schedule that we switched to at that age was up at 7AM, nap from 11:30-2:30, bedtime at 7:30. It works really well for us, but despite what your individual timing is, I think generally things go smoother if their longest awake period is the one before bedtime.

@QBbride: definitely sucks! naps are definitely shorter too, I think he used to roll over and go back to sleep if he woke a little, but now when he wakes up he is standing up and wanting out asap. such a bummer. I hope it stops soon!

@QBbride: ahhh 10 minutes?! My son would FREAK OUT if he fell asleep and got woken up 10 minutes later haha. But yeah, mine's gone in awake for a long time and pretty much only stands if he's not tired enough. ANd then throws his blankets out. Not fun.

@scg00387: maybe if this keeps up, I'll ask daycare about an early nap. They must have seen other kiddos with these issues! I know sometimes they'll let them nap for 10 mins in the morning to get them through to the afternoon nap.

@Seattlemom: yes sounds like the same thing! I have no idea why he is standing in his crib now, he's been standing for months! It is so frustrating. Before he would wake then just roll over but now he immediately stands up so he can't go back to sleep because he's standing!!! Grrrrrr.

@QBbride: oh my I think we are going through the same thing and I was wondering if it was a wonder weeks storm phase! I don't think I have it quite a bad as you do, but my LO (14.5 mo) has been waking up at 6 (used to be 7am). He used to wake up happy and just chat to himself in bed for a while until I would go get him. Now he stands up right away and starts crying so hard! He has been going to bed at night fine, but naps are harder for us, he keeps standing up and crying.
I have been going in every 10 minutes and laying him back down and then if it lasts 30 minutes I go in a rock him for a bit and then put him back down awake.

@QBbride: my son has always been on the early side (dropped to 1 at 11m, sadly) but most kidlets in our playgroup dropped to one around 14m. That would be hard to make it that long, though.. when he was only taking one, it started pretty early (like 10:30) and then gradually pushed back to about 1. Maybe daycare could be more flexible? Hope it is a phase that passes soon!

@scg00387: thanks! That's a good suggestion. I was reading the average age of dropping to one nap is 15m, so he's pretty close. The funny thing is, before everything became majorly messed up, he would nap for 1 1/2-2 hours 2x/day when at home (which was probably too much napping, but it didn't affect his nighttime sleep). At daycare, I think they wake him after 30 mins in the AM (not positive about this, I should check) then he really only has time for a 2 hour nap in the afternoon (12:45 or 1pm-3pm). The problem with one nap is that he'd have to hold out till 12:45 or 1pm and that's a pretty looong time to be awake for!

@QBbride: do you think he is ready for 1 nap? the first nap sounds pretty short - having just one, ending earlier, might help bed time go easier! we have had phases of hating bath too, they always pass (not that that helps much)

@Mrs. High Heels: it is usually between 6:30 and 6:45, sometimes 7. He seems soo tired by that time! But lately it's taken us 45 minutes to get him down so he's usually asleep around 7:45pm.

Thanks @Mrs. Bee: I can try putting him down close to 7pm instead. I'm willing to try anything!

I think I'm just at my wits end because he's soo clingy and whiny with this WW. I miss my easygoing baby!

What time is your LO's bedtime? Is it 6:30? I would try for a 7pm bedtime. Sounds like he's getting enough total nap time for the day - 2.5 hrs is great!

This Wonder Week (leap 9) is kicking my butt!!!

My 14m old used to be asleep by 6:30 or 6:45 and up at 5:30ish with no wake ups. I would put him down awake for naps and bedtime and he wouldn't make a peep and go right to sleep.

Now everything is a major fight. He used to love the bath, but now he doesn't want to bathe. It takes us 45 mins-1 hour of lying him back down in his crib since he keeps standing up at bedtime. He wakes around midnight then we bring him into bed with us because we're exhausted. Up at 5ish :crying: he naps on me because for the life of me I can't get him down in his crib!

He naps twice at daycare (30 mins in the AM, 2 hours in the afternoon). Up at 3pm. He is tired at bedtime so I don't think it's because he's not tired. Maybe he's overtired?

Anyways I'm second guessing everything now since I want to go back to the way things were!!! Is he napping too long? Up too long between 3pm and bedtime? HELP please!!!

Or will this just pass once the WW is over?
