Our ODD was a pretty terrible sleeper, but had been getting better until she hit a rough sleep patch at about 2.5 as well. If it makes you feel better, she's a little over 3 now, and goes to sleep happily on her own and sleeps through the night unless she has a bad dream. We didn't do anything special to get to this point. She just outgrew it. I hope for your sake that it happens soon!

Edited to add that we also have the Okay to Wake alarm clock and like it. DD didn't pay much attention to it at first, but now loves it. If she wakes up early, she will sit quietly in her room reading until the light pops on, then she comes into our room.

Not sure if this will help (or just to commiserate), but my son had a really hard time with nap from about 26 months-31 months, specifically related to falling asleep (once he's asleep he's fine). I think it stems from them reaching a level of comprehension that they're missing out on what's going on outside their room...as well as starting to have some vivid dreams/nightmares that might freak them out? My son had a dream about a superhero and it took *weeks* for him to forget about it and be okay with us leaving at sleep time. What worked for us was the Okay to Wake clock that @Lbee suggested for this age/issue specifically. He gets a reward if he lies down, goes to sleep, and doesn't call for us until the light is green. It's been a life saver, and was only $18 at Target. We use it for nights and naps. Might be worth a shot!

@Mrs. Lion: @bhbee: Graham has been doing the same thing! He's always been pretty bad about wanting us to stay in the room while he falls asleep, but lately it's been a must for us to be in there and he would prefer for us to be holding him. The last few weeks he's been waking up in the middle of the night more, too, and it's been awful to get him back into a good sleep. He will fall back asleep a little bit, but then he rouses and realizes we left the room and he freaks. I need this to resolve in less than two weeks before I have a little that is waking up all through the night!

My 2.5yo started having sleep issues a month or so ago. He sleeps fine if you are in his room ... sometimes he will go to sleep with singing outside his door and sometimes we have to sit in there until he falls asleep. If he wakes up mid night one of us usually ends up sleeping in there - he screams and sobs but the second we go in and lay down, he goes right back to sleep. So it's the easy way out and maybe creating bad habits but I don't know what else to do. Hopefully he grows out of it?!

No real advice but maybe it is a thing??

Is this a thing? My daughter who typically goes to bed fine has been getting progressively worse at bedtime for the last couple weeks. She's currently screaming as if posessed by demons because I left her room and am not holding her until she falls asleep. We moved about 6 weeks ago and it was rough for a couple weeks, then totally fine, and now its insane. Any suggestions? I know if I go hold her she will go to sleep, but I feel like it just keeps getting worse every day and doing that isn't helping?
