It was going after wood bees that we found in our siding. I think they sometimes peck on gutters just to make noise/for territorial reasons. If they're on the gutters, you have my sympathy--that's LOUD (but should be harmless to the gutter). </p> <p>Also, if you've got dying trees you would otherwise cut down entirely, but can leave partially standing, I'd do that. After that, we haven't had any more problems.
